Re: shimano metanium users
I use my Met 101HG for Salmon and the gears started feeling gritty after a month or so, I bought a Antares HG and fished them side by side and was impressed how smooth the Ant. was. Then i serviced the Met. and the tide turned the Met. was now smoother. I put Hedge Hog studio AIR Bearings in the Met...

Re: TT Reels Shootout - Getting Complacent?
I think it was fair, there is a lot of competition out there now. I bought three new Shimano's last year and the only keeper is a Met 13 HG, Antares HG is sold off and soon will be my Curado 201i HG. This will make you choke but I preferred my one and only Lews to the Antares. I would take the Tourn...

Re: what a find!
Yep the D is the best Curado yet by far, please keep us posted I sold a NIB 201 DHSV to finance a 201i HG I was itching for, that was a dumb move. Newer is not better .

Re: Shimano C14?
The frame height is the same, Shimano list the IPT as 1 inch more for the 3000 but I put the 3000 and 2500 spool up against each other and could not see a difference, I have a 2500 and two 3000's and I know they have the same internals but my 3000's are a bit smoother than the 2500. YMMV!

Re: Shimano C14?
The spools are the same diameter, the 3000 is slightly deeper though. and on the CI4+ they use the same handle & Knobs. Great little reels that can handle lots of large fish and remain smooth and solid.

Re: Stradic CI4+ upgrade questions.
Help guys! how do you get the roll pin out of the spool shaft? I have a 2500 & 3000 and the roll pin only goes in from one side there is not a hole all the way through to punch the roll pin out! I want to do the spool bearing since I use my reels for Salmon and the drag gets a workout.

For what it's worth I have a Met HG and Antares HG and the Met wins that one hands down, great little reel!

Re: Spinning Reel Brand Suggestions
I have had two Stradic FH's lock up on me with only with a few hours on the water. It was caused by a lack of lubrication right out of the box, one of them toasted the gears and the other was salvageable. I have not had another issue with any of the FG's`FI's or CI4+'s they have been excellent. Othe...

Re: Best Spinning Reel Besides Stella or Steez ?
I have to give a vote to the Ci4+ as well for a great value, I picked up 2500 this summer and all but quit using my bait casting gear, my Met.13 and Antares just sat in there boxes most of the summer! I have 10 or 12 Stradics but grabbed the Ci4+ every time, it was supposed to be for my wife but no ...

Re: Full Ceramic Bearings Anyone?
I tried a lot of other brands but once I tried Hedgehogs I was sold. Their SS bearings are excellent too, I have no need for Hybreds anymore.

Re: Stripping Gears during hookset
In the last two years I have found that Aluminum gears have held up best for me but I'm Salmon fishing, My Curado 201i HG lasted two fish and my Antares started to get a little rough after about 10 fish, it is now for sale. My Metanium HG is still butter smooth as is my work horse reel a Lew's Tourn...

Re: Curado 201i HG Vs Rain = Bad Results
Sorry, the word "Toast" was poorly chosen what I should have said was... it is still "very rough", Salmon make very fast and strong runs, especially when current is included into the equation. So even though I was only using 10lb if the grease was getting washed out the gears will take a beating no ...
