Re: What's your thoughts on bed fishing?
1. Most anglers against this are hipocrites, because they have no problem fishing for spawning fish they cannot see. It's sight fishing vs unknowingly catching spawning fish. 2. Closing fishing for "a couple weeks" would not cover the full spawn. It can be 6 weeks some places and 6 months in Florida...

Re: Comparables to Toray Super Hard Upgrade?
The new 18lb Shooter will likely be my 16 lb Super Hard replacement when I run out and if it's still impossible to find. Move that SunLine went to the 150m spools in the higher lb tests now, as well.

Re: Loomis vs. St. Croix power
I have owned multiple avid and legend elite MF66 spinning rods and multiple SJR 782 GLXs and the Croix has quite a bit more power. As stated, the Loomis JWR series 802/852 will be closer to what you are used to...it's been a while, but I do not agree that these (802/852) are more powerful than the M...

Re: G loomis flip/punch rod?
I'll let the guys that fish the slop more than I, make the recommendations...but, if you are not aware...You mentioned NRX and GLX and the 895 and 896....There is an NRX 895 JWR and not a GLX versions. There are 895 and 896 versions of the GLX FPR. The JWR and FPR are VERY different rods...The FPR h...

Re: Best uses for 2 GLoomis rods
783 can be used for close quarters spinnerbaits and buzzbaits..some like it for larger topwater, although I'm personally not a huge fan..larger squarebills for some...also good for smaller plastics and jigs, although I very much prefer a 7'+ rod... The 782 is my go-to for jerkbaits..many like it for...

Re: Conquest 300 + Leviathan = Good Combo for Punching?
I don't mean to be a downer, just some food for thought..just my opinion. YMMV... 1. Punching with a large round reel seems very uncomfortable to me.. 2. Defier Amarilo is small diamèter vs label rating and is then equivalent of most USDM 17 lb mono...meaning 2 things.. A. A 300 size reel may not be...

Re: Where is anyone buying Toray?
You CANNOT EVEN buy it at Blackwater's site!! I talked to TW a while back, worried the Superhard upgrade was being discontinued...they said it wasn't that they knew of, and they were waiting on shipments. Blackwater must be also waiting. I love Toray but with Sunline now making the higher lb tests ...

Re: Need some insight on a magnum topwater/smaller swimbait
Any experience with the Lexa 300.?? YMMV, but I went into that reel with an open mind and really didn't like it at all. Threw A-rigs on it for a while and sold it. Felt rough and cheap to me.

Re: Why upgrade to a Curado I or Tatula?
I haven't fished the BassOne but, IMO, some of the biggest "upgrades" when you look at, say a Curado, is not necessarily going to be seen in the "statistics" of then specs (BB count, etc). It's more about fit, finish, tolerances, and material. A graphite on graphite reel always felt horrible in hand...

"Tex-posed"/all the way through the few times I've thrown them...or with similar baits...with a hook with the correct angle, like a Gama EWG.

Re: Boxes/Bags
These (The Magnum and Super Magnum) are hard to beat when sheer volume comes in to play...Not many that with hold 12 of the 370s, or equivalent.johnnybassboat wrote:I have a couple of Cabelas advanced angler bags. They have been pretty good bags.

Re: NRX 852s: Wow what a rod!
I have fished both for a while. I use the 852 paired with a Certate 2000 and the 822 paired with a Vanquish 2500 hgs for drop shot. The 822 has a softer tip, but doesn't lack any power. I like the 852 if I want to horse them in, there is structure around me, or if I am fishing deeper than 40'. To m...
