Re: What Ever Happen To Quantum?

You guys are scaring me. I bought a few quantum spinning reels (kvd tour) from cabelas on sale this spring. Felt better than the newest Stradic to me off the shelf, which I also own.

Re: Any braids better than Daiwa Samurai?

Well, I was going to use suffix Nanobraid as my main spinning line this year. So far spooled up a light power spinning rod with 6# to a leader. So far so good, but not much testing. I may need to order up some maxima to try instead. I do not want a braid that needs connecting knots as complicated as...

Re: Interesting Comparisons

When I bought my last spinning reels, ss700 and Stradic 3000, I almost bought a quantum smoke speed freak. Felt smoother and tighter than the Stradic, but from stuff here figured Stradic was the better bet.

Re: St. Croix legend elite vs G. Loomis Trout Series

I picked up one of the Legend Elite Light power rods (70lf2). I have been searching for the perfect light action rod for awhile. I always liked the high end st. croix light power rods and could not find something quite like it. I did not want to spend that much money. The River Runner light power r...

Re: Daiwa Tournament SS Reel

I got my brand new ss700 today. It does have more resistance when reeling than my other spinning reels. The shorter handle does feel a little different. Spool wobble does not seem to be any different than a lot of current reels. Might be less noticeable because when you crank the handle to spin it, ...

Re: Point Blank Web Site

XF for cranking goes against conventional wisdom for sure though. The first rod I built was a Loomis CB845. I used it mainly for spinnerbaits since my St. Croix 70mf factory casting rod (older factory model when the blanks were gray with burgundy accent wraps, IIRC) was missing a lot of fish. Once I...

Re: Daiwa Tournament SS Reel

I ordered up a ss700 to try. It will either go on my St. Croix legend elite 70lf or my fenwick River runner 6-9l. One will have a Stradic and the other the ss700.

RDA database

I used to have access to the RDA database from MarkG. But, I lost my log in info here awhile back and that info was in my private messages here. Does anyone know how I can get access to that info again?

Re: Daiwa Tournament SS Reel

I do like the idea of 5° line cross wrap on the spool. Do any other reels do this?

Re: Daiwa Tournament SS Reel

Ok. I should update a few reels soon and all this talk of the SS tournaments has me wondering if I should get these instead of a Stradic, Ballistic, or similar price point reel. My biggest worry is that the lack of anti-reverse will bother me. I currently run mainly $120ish older Stradics, Cabelas P...

Re: Rod Geeks?

They are the same graphite as St. croix ScII and Sc IV. Tom Kirkman mentioned that RodGeeks also does stuff for St. croix at the rodbuilding.org website. Tapers may be different though, not sure.

Re: Favorite Or Greatest Bass Fisherman Of All Time

I am going to go with The Lindners Rich Zaleski KVD (from sw MI, have to) Being from the Midwest, I always found the Infisherman stuff more applicable to what I was doing. bassmaster stuff seemed always too reservoir related when I was a kid. Rich Z's article on trophy fall bass fishing was the firs...
