Re: Rods/reels on a yak
I do keep my rods in the vertical position behind me. Yes, you have to be mindful of that if you are going to be under trees low enough. If you are fishing streams, which I don't, I am always on open water, then the vertical position wouldn't work. I do have keepers for the rods when they are in the...

Tahoe,
Very nice picture. Looks professional. Like the blue braid on there.

I would love to see a picture or specs on this lure.

Re: Loud Topwater Walkers
I don't fish this lure, but have heard many times that the Mirrolure She Dog or She Pup in the size you are talking about is the loudest top water lure out there.

Re: Your favorite red treble hook?
Big believer in the red hooks. I use ST36's, but they are not the strongest hook in the world and after a few toothy fish, e.g. bluefish, most of the red gets chewed off. I am hoping that they will come out with a red hook in the inline single model.

Nice catch JB. I don't have the cojones to fish my Mets in the salt.

Re: Threading Line Around Low Profile Spool
If I understand what you are asking, I can have difficulties as well. What I normally try to do is pass the line down and out the bottom side of the reel and then push/pull it back up the back side of the spool.

Re: Mgl XG Topwater.
Another vote for the XG. Can't believe how much I love that reel. I am using it for walking baits and it is spooled with 30# braid with a mono leader.

Re: Red hooks?
Most of the lures that I have swapped out the stock hooks to red have been topwater. Red is suppose to disappear first in the color spectrum as you get deeper. And also, the red hooks do seem slightly weaker. YMMV of course.

Re: Red hooks?
It is very surprising to see how often fish will hit the red hook in which ever position it is on the lure.

Re: New Curado 70
OK, now that we have a little more info about the 70, what does it replace in your current Shimano line-up or what might it be selected over on a future Shimano purchase???? I was trying to think about if or how I might fit one in. It appears to come in both a HG and XG version which provides more ...

Not ant- BFS at all. It is certainly a more enjoyable (to me) alternative to spinning . My discovery of Tackle Tour was the end of all my spinning combos.
