Re: The Walking Baits: Top 5 Walk-The-Dog Picks

I would have to include the Gunfish as far as where I fish. Great lure.

I am hoping Reaction Innovations will come back out with the Barely Legal.

Super Spooks and Jrs. are the real deal for me.

Re: General purpose surf/beachcasting setup?

I fish in FL on the beach a lot and I only use bass gear. I am only throwing lures, but most of the better bait fisherman are fishing smaller rigs than you are talking about. I always recommend going MH bass rod. You want be able to land everything that you might encounter, but the average fish is g...

Re: Top Water Rod question

There doesn't seem to be a very strong consensus about what the perfect topwater rod is. I don't have any experience with the St. Croix, but I do use G Loomis cranking rods for topwater and have been very pleased with both how they work the lure, mostly walking baits, super spooks and repoman late p...

Re: 2 or 3 power GLX?

If you are talking about a JWR rod, then I think the 2 power rod would work. If you are talking about the MBR, then I would go with the 3 power. The older 2 power MBR rod that I had did not have enough backbone for my tastes.

Re: Another Handle For the Curado 70?

Might be a little late to reply to this, but the Metanium MGL handles fit without any other parts. Got mine from the Tackle Trap. Awesome upgrade to go to the XG handle.

Re: Loomis crankbait rods for Traps and Spooks

I have three 845CBR rods. One in E6X, fiber blend, and GLX. I use all of these for 1/2 oz size spooks. I do use braid. The GLX is an amazing rod from a lightness, sensitivity and the action of the rod when you hook up. The Fiber blend casts and works the spook so perfectly for me. If there was a way...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Back around June, I found a flat that was producing some really big trout. Made the call to go fish it the other evening and got my friend Josh to join me. We were throwing topwater and within the first few casts had a 24" trout landed. As I am trying to unhook and take some pics, his Spook gets sl...

Re: Metanium MGL - XG or HG for all-around?

i have 6 xg and wouldn't do it any other way. I am not far from this train of thought!!! I recall when I bought my first XG I was concerned I would not like it. How wrong I was  X2. After I bought the XG, I felt like I should get an HG. I have regretted not getting another XG. That big handle...

I thought I was the only one who would throw topwater in those conditions. Have you tried swapping out the trebles to inline singles. It helps a lot with the grass. Always enjoy your posts.
