Re: Bfs reel
Any of the newer reels will cast 7g (1/4oz) with ease. The curado 150 will cast 5g no issues using 10lb mono. The millionaire ct will go down under 4g with the stock spool using 6lb mono with a rod that loads at that weight. I would say the new zillion, alphas or steez ct would be excellent if you a...

Re: Which reel is left?
They use daiwas micro gears, and as far as i know, there are no other reels from daiwa that have these type of gears. On older Millionaire reels you can use alphas/pixy gears, but not the CT. You mean micro in the aspect of diameter? I don't think the tooth size is any different than a regular reel...

Re: Which reel is left?
I wanted to get the Millionaire CT as well, its a sweet looking reel, but as soon as i found out that you can't buy a new pair of gears, its an insta deal breaker. The Z2020 or the USDM variant would be my suggestion. Best large'ish baitcaster ever made. I thought it took the same gears as the old ...

You can see the schematics on plat too and it shows the dual bearing supported pinion gear as well.BARRAMANIAC wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 2:44 pmDaiwa doesnt include the antireverse bearing in their bearing count usually. i have seen a tare down video and it does indeed have the second bearing on the pinion

Re: So what happened to Major Craft?
It looks like they have focused mainly on the saltwater market now. I've had many emails with their overseas division manager and they said they would be expanding their bass lineup again starting this year but I've yet to see anything. Right now the days line is their nicest bass rod and while I re...

Re: Aldebaran BFS Drag Smoothness?
I run 4lb mono on my 22 Alde BFS and so far my biggest bass is around 4lbs. Drag was smooth when the fish ran, no shutters, smooth consistent startup.

Re: Edge Silver Widow 736 SRJ vs. NRX+ 893
I can do my best to answer your questions on the silver widow. -Power, I would rate the 736 as a 1/2 power stronger than the 893. The tip of the 736 is fairly soft and quick but transitions into a solid backbone. The 736 is a "heavy" but i would call it a MH+. -Taper, the 736 would fall between a fa...

I own the 736 SJR silver widow and have handled the 893 but have never fished it. What kind of comparison are you looking for?

Re: Zillion TW HD ‘22
I got my reel today from JapanTackle. Dry-reeling it, it feels kinda cluttery and scrapy. Part of that might go away after I grease the reel, but I notice that the spool bearing has significant play on this reel - when shaking the spool, it goes up and down by a millimeter or so. Can anybody confir...

Re: Zillion TW HD ‘22
I'm considering getting one of these for frogging. Any feedback/experiences? I understand the line capacity might be a bit low, but I usually don't throw giants frogs and I think I'll be fine (setting the hook on a frog fish 100+ feet far out is an adventure, anyway). Handle seems good if it's the ...

Re: New Frogging Reel
If I was to buy a new high end frog reel my top candidate would be a Steez A HLC. I would probably buy and sit on a Zillion G based main gear or just drop it in on day one to wear the two together. I like bombing frogs over big weed beds with moss on them and have a preference for HLC spools for th...

Re: Value spinning reels. Composite vs aluminum
I just bought a 2022 shimano Nasci FC 1000. its got the screw in handle this year which is a huge upgrade. I think for the price it cannot be beat. its super smooth. as smooth as my stradic and its half the price. I would look into them. I believe its aluminum bodied (what shimano calls Hagane lol)...
