Re: Favorite Lipless for fishing grass?
x2 Redeye Shad. Solid bait with great cost efficiency. Good for days when you are fishing near structure. I have yet to find another lipless bait under 10 bucks that will swim/shimmy on the fall. Great for grass ripping days. Ratltrap is a solid bait - one of the first hardbaits I ever fished with a...

Re: Fluorocarbon: does it get brittle in cold water?
My 2 cents. I do feel that most fluoro becomes a bit stiffer in colder weather. I do not think that this means that it also becomes 'brittle' I think the brittle opinion stems from the change in line characteristics affecting how a knot will tie/seat. When its cold, it takes just a little more to pr...

Re: Spooling Station Question; Does it exist?
I have a lot of experience with the triangle. I have spooled spinning reels from 500 sizes to 10000 sizes. In the BC arena I have run small frame 50 reels all the way up to 50W offshore lever drags. They have great product support and replacement components are all available individually. This is th...

Re: Need help how to remove a rounded hex screw
They make left handed or counterclockwise drill bits...or you can use something called an screw extractor . Both of these methods are a last resort. You will destroy the screw (its already shredded from your pic). If some of the suggestions above don't work. This will work. https://www.youtube.com/r...

Re: Help!
Need a little more info. Including the exact Model # of the rod in question would be a good place to start.

Re: Bought a Salmon Rod for Saltwater Bass and Fresh?
'Salmon' rod are incredibly popular in our local fishery here in coastal Georgia with the old farts that still fish Abu 6500 round spools. The common setup is >50lb braid throwing a 12" adjustable pole float with 1.25 oz trolling weights below them to fish live shrimp. Target fish are Redfish and Se...

Re: 100% Berkley Nanofil Knot
Nice video. I am surprised by you only using 5 wraps on that size nanofil. If you're breaking the main line then its holding, I am just accustomed to using more. If you use your the triple eye wrap technique you demonstrated with an 8 turn uni knot I would bet you will have similar results. You just...

Hollow Body Frogs: Taking on water
I have some hollow body frogs I have come across that are less than expensive, have great hooks, and I like the way they fish. On two trips this week I've caught more than 30 on this frog. The only real negative is that after 5 or 6 casts this bait begins to sink. A simple squeeze fixes this issue, ...

Re: Spool Station?
While spooling up dip your rod every 10 cranks or so to throw slack in the line. If no twist, keep going. If you notice twist, flip the spool over. +1 for spinning reels. Although, the expensive electric motor powered ones are awesome a manual powered spooling station is a waste of time and money i...

Re: How many yards in a 3000 size shimano?
Ever since Shimano switched their spools to the 'Propulsion' lip on their spools, their line capacity accuracies from the reel box/reel spool are incredibly inaccurate. Shimano says a 3000 spool will hold 140 yards of 10 lb mono. I can say with 100% confidence that this will only hold at max 105 yar...

Dustlane hit it out of the park.
I've had a few reels over the years that develop a sticky clutch release like this. A full teardown cleaning has always fixed this issue.

Re: Shimano C14?
According to a quick glance at shimano.com the only difference is 1 IPT and a little line capacity. Same weight, drag, and handle. I do wonder if the frame height is any different though.

Re: Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris CarbonLite Baitcast Reel
I have the 5.4:1 Johnny Carbonlite (JCL10SA). Love it. Dual external brake adjustments for both magnetic and kinetic brakes. Easily my favorite <10' deep crankin reel because of adjustment speed of the braking systems. I have the grey/carbon colored one. The new one is now white in color, and the fr...
