Re: Hand tied jigs
Even as someone who has never thrown a jig, they look awesome. When summer comes, I reckon I'll have to give some a try for our local perch, trout and chub.

Re: UL rod length
All my UL rods are between 6' and 7'3", The longer rod , a Hart LRF, gives me a bit more reach over bankside vegetation, which helps on some waters. However I really prefer a rod of 6' - 6'6" as balance feels more neutral.

Re: need help picking new baitcasting reel in $350 range
I have a Core 51Mg7 and love it. I've been abusing this reel throwing 25g - 50g baits for the last year and it hasn't missed a beat. Just waiting for a new Major Craft Volkey VKC 65 UL/BFS to pair it with. Then it'll be a Yumeya BFS Ultralight spool and ZPI SiC Ceramic bearings

More successful casts
I seem to have cracked the casting and drilling side of the process. Here are a couple of pic's of my latest attempts, a standard Slider in Purple Haze and a BellyUp Slider in Red Dragon  . The standard runs as I hoped with my normal leading pattern, the BellyUp is as yet untested. All my venue...

Cleaning Silicon Molds
Any ideas on the best way to clean RTV Silicon molds? Mine have a few smears of polyester resin on them. Do you think acetone would work? Someone recommended nail varnish remover, but I'm not too sure.

Success at last...A cast Slider
At last I have been able to successfully drill one of my favourite cast resin lures, a 10cm Salmo Slider \:D/ . Having bought a Dremel Workstation, Multi Chuck, Drill Press Vice and a coule of diamond drill bits, not to mention two batches of RTV Silicon and casting resin, it has worked out costly :...

Re: 20lb Musky caught on ultra light tackle....
Way to go . I'd be stoked to get that on my regular pike gear, Loomis MBR 783C / Okuma Komodo, but I'd be in seventh heaven to take it on my UL kit. Well done.

Re: Cast resin lures
That thing looks terribly good. Almost like a Salmo Slider lure. =D> Does it have any "action" with straight retrieve? It's a cast of a HRT Silver Fox, but I have just cast a couple of 10cm Sliders ;) . The Slider is an all time favourite of mine, one of my go to lures. Not had a chance to test the...

Re: Repairing bills on cranks and jerks
I've replaced a lot of bills. Filed or Dremelled out the broken one and fixed the replacement with Z-Poxy. I found that square Cokin photographic filters made good strong bills. Easy to cut, and I could get a lot from one filter.

Cast resin lures
Just started trying to cast resin lures. Not as easy as I thought. Made the molds without too much trouble, except for my 1st attempt vulcanising as I was pouring the RTV silicon. Second time around and I'd made a 1pc and a 2pc mold. Starting with the 1pc mold the resin pouring went fine, gave the l...

Re: Shimano Twinpower Mg 1000S '09 ver.
Not with that model, but I've been using the Mg1000PGSDH for the last 3 yeas or so. It's the best UL reel that I have owned, hands down . Definately a keeper.

Personal Best Pike 42"
Arrived at my home water, a 26 acre estate lake, at 7.30. Started out throwing an old floating ABU Terminator in perch pattern. Had a single knock and nothing else. Whilst changing lures another angler arrived in the car park. I knew he'd fish the easy bank, so immediately moved to the woods. There ...
