Re: Finesse jigs
If you want ones with a true finesse hook look here and try out ones 3.5 - 5g. Lots of options.

Re: Orochi XXX
does anyone know what the "Shad" bait is in the MB specs for the Black Themis? Looks like a deep crank but that wouldn't make sense on this rod... That appears to be a Shading-X . Maybe it's a shading-x deep, but they are small and even the "deep" version is only good for about 8'. Great bait btw.

Re: Spy baits who's using them, and what brands?
I have a few Duo's but haven't had the right day to pull them out for walleye fishing. I have had great success with the similar but much larger Gan Craft Screwbait 110's and 130's for pike fishing. Know it's not the kind of thing most of you do but those things are fantastic along the outside edge ...

Re: Suggestions for a enthusiast crankbait rod?
I have an older Tomahawk that I really like and would recommend one if you prefer a fiberglass rod. I think that is the main question that you will need to ask yourself. Fiberglass or composite construction? I think the main benefits for each type are: Fiberglass : Soft feel, great for keeping fish ...

Re: NRX refresh ?
Was looking a bit more and the Asquith Fly Rods are supposed to use 3 layers of material instead of 5 and be 15% lighter than NRX for a comparable model. NRX only claim to fame is sensitivity so I was just wondering how they were going to make the rods more sensitive. A weight reduction like that wo...

Re: NRX refresh ?
The speculation is that the new rod will be based on the same blank as their new ultra high end fly rod...the Asquith. Will be interesting to see. From the Asquith page "Built on Shimano’s proprietary Spiral X platform, the Asquith boasts superb power transfer from tip to hand, quick recovery, and ...

Re: Shimano twinpower C2000HGS
I have that exact size of twinpower and think it is pretty solid. I was fishing it side by side with my 2010 Stella the other day and would say it is comparable with regards to both drag and retrieve smoothness. I was ice fishing so not casting but had a chance to pull in a couple of 4-5 lb fish on ...

Re: MB Vision 110 jr worth the coin?
I find the Jr's work better for me than the regular ones all of the time. Just a better match for the bait size where I am I guess.

Re: Favorite 3# or 3.5 # FC for spinning reel?
Just for clarity. I had originally heard the two lines were the same from Japan Tackle but here is a press release from Seguar that mentions the connection. http://www.seaguar.com/about-seaguar/press-releases/55-seaguar-introduces-tatsu-the-world-s-only-double-structure-fluorocarbon-main-line.html I...

Re: Favorite 3# or 3.5 # FC for spinning reel?
I'll look into everything except the Seaguar since it only goes down to 4#. I've used Seaguar plenty offshore and I'm completely sold on it but I'm going to be fishing this line with a jdm rod with no warranty and the max fc it lists is 3.5# so I don't dare go any higher than that. I already had th...

Re: Bfs rod for cranking?
I have a conquest 101 that I made into a bfs reel on a Megabass Evoluzion C40 F1.5 Exparda that I think is just perfect for small cranks. I use it for moving baits from 1/8th oz to 1/4 oz. That must be really nice combo. I like The super cliffhanger X7 but not sure how it fishes looks like it shoul...

Re: New vs. Old conquests
I don't know what size swim baits you are fishing but I have used my conquest 301 with baits up to 6oz and have never felt that the retrieve was anything other than perfect. Same goes for my 101 just with smaller baits. I have an older 401 and it definitely feels more geary on the retrieve.

Re: Kaleido Serpenti Spinning Rods
ST is for solid tip. I believe they are fast - extra fast but I don't know anything about them beyond what the marketing material says. http://www.evergreen-fishing.com/goods_list/TheBushSerpent_0108S080_1.html They seem to be talking about throwing lures on the lighter side but having the power to ...
