Re: Advice needed on new trebles for old lures

IT'S AMAZING THE SOME PEOPLE WILL SPEND $50,000 for super deluxe bass boat and get chintzy and skimp to buy cheapo hooks.....the very thing that catches the fish. The Owner ST36 are some of the sharpest and best trebles I have found...along with Gamakatsu. Try 'em... you will never go wrong with th...

Re: Any ice nuts here?

Hello... I'm on the TT because I'm a bass fisherman....BUT Not into ice fishing...and I don't know anything about ice fishing. But I ask for some advice and recommendations from the ice fishing experts out there. My father-in-law lives in Volgograd, Russia, and he's an avid ice fisherman, usually fi...

Re: favorite scent/attractant for bass?

Recently, one of the salesmen in the BPS store said to use WD-40 to spray on the bait ... saying it's just as good as the commercial attractants... I thought the advice was somewhat unusual from a guy who's job it is to sell the commercial attractants. But I met him outside the store, not while he ...

Re: Advice needed on new trebles for old lures

Fred, The trebles are kind of 'bent' at an angle, presumably the hook will rotate to ensure a good hookset when you set the hook. For split rings, I prefer to use the SS, but others work, the only problem with the SS is that they won't close properly if you bend them too far, they are not springy, ...

Re: Advice needed on new trebles for old lures

Follow-up question... Now I need some advice on split rings... There are so many options available that I am confused. Some sizes are listed as 1/0, 1, 2, etc., while others are 5,6,7,8,9, 10 Various colors are also available....silver, black, copper, gold. What types/colors/sizes do you suggest or ...

Re: Advice needed on new trebles for old lures

I was wondering why no one mentioned Excalibur. Ever since I bought some Bomber lures years ago with Excalibur rotating hooks, I've been hooked. The newer ones are a little heavier gauge ( It seems) than the older ones, but they have a good gap and a "twist" in them that really works. They are also...

Need reel maintenance advice

Bought a bunch of stuff at a garage sale, including several spinning reels by Shimano, a Shakespeare, and a South Bend. Some reels spin rather freely, while others don't. I need a book like reel maintenance for dummies, but such probably doesn't exist. This appears to be a good winter project. The v...

Advice needed on new trebles for old lures

I'm new to the forum, and this is my first post. I bought a bunch of stuff at a garage sale that included many lures like jitterbugs, zara spooks, etc. The treble hooks aren't rusted, but there is some corrosion. Furthermore, some of the hooks don't move freely. I want to replace them, but I've neve...
