Re: Aaron Martens Deck this week..
from what i am led to believe ish monroe uses alot of high end gear. didnt he lose a whole deckload of sexy gear one tourney in rough water? Yep I remember hearing about Ish losing many, many dollars worth of gear to a wave a while back too. And a couple of years ago, I was fishing around in the ma...

Re: Versatile heavy duty rod advice needed
Wow thanks for all of the great replies everyone. It sounds like the X4 Destruction may be a little underpowered for flipping, which was my main concern with it and one of the reasons I started this topic. The Destruction is one of the few Megabass rods I've actually had my hands on, and it definite...

Versatile heavy duty rod advice needed
It looks like I'm finally going to be able to go back to Lake Okeechobee again for the first time in many years, and I want to get a heavy duty rod that I can put some 65lb braid on to give myself a fighting chance in all of that vegetation. However, I need the rod to be more versatile than a flippi...

1/8oz shakey head if I was fishing hard structure, and a 1/8oz T-rig if I'm fishing around grass or some other soft structure.
Either way the bait would be a 6" straight tail Roboworm.

Re: NRX 901s
That blue NRX would look great with a Stella on it. :D Buy it so that I can stop thinking about it. It's driving me crazy to see it that cheap knowing that I don't have the money for it right now lol. I want to get one because I think it would be an amazing crappie rod that I could also use for long...

I may have to get my hands on the 901S eventually. I think that it could be the ultimate crappie rod.

Re: Rod for Spooning
Shimano has some other jigging rods that you might be interested in. http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/products/rods/jigging/Trevala_F_Butterfly_Jigging_Conventional.html Pretty much all of their jigging rod series have at least one model in the length range you want. T...

Re: Core 51 MG7 - Applications / Handles
I am not 100% sure about this so someone may need to correct me, but I believe that the spool on the Aldebaran Mg is identical to the one in the Core 50. I think that the entire reels are pretty much identical other than the colors and the gear ratios. I feel like I also read that the 5.8:1 Aldebara...

Re: Stradic microline
4lbs of drag is more than enough for pretty much any ultralight application. With 6lb braid I would personally think that something like 2lbs of pressure would be a good drag setting, depending on what you're fishing for. I'm not sure if you're asking about the original Ci4 Microline or the new Ci4+...

Re: Steez / Cumulus Decisions...
When I left the store their was 1 steez left in stock... However there is a 13% sales tax in Ontario Canada and shipping a rod from here to the US is not cheap by any means... Mike D Oh I was mostly just joking (not completely though), but that would still be a really good price considering what th...

Wow that's one heck of a deal! Congratulations on your purchase and wise decision to buy both. I'm sure you'll love both of them, but if you don't then by all means PM me and I would be happy to pay you what you paid for one of them.

Re: Rod for Alphas/Pixy
For open hook applications, I actually prefer a fast action rod over an extra fast action because fast action rods tend to be easier to cast (especially with lighter baits) and usually will handle a wider range of lure weights. If you can find one, that 6'10" Shimano Cumulus supersano recommended is...

Re: Academy Tungsten
They are pretty much the only worm weights I use nowadays. They used to be significantly cheaper than most other brands, but now they have raised their prices on them to the point that they almost cost the same as the name brand ones. I still prefer them to most anyways because of the plastic insert...

Re: Stella vs Vanquish
Hey, did you get your Stella yet? If you did, what do you think? I was thinking about your headline on this thread. I have handled a Vanquish. It is a nice reel. It doesn't stack up to the Stella though. It's very light, tight and smooth, but when I look at the specs for the Vanquish it looks more ...

Re: Anyone else as excited as me about Abu selling JDM in US
Hopefully the Abu Garcia JDM reels are followed by their JDM rods! Bring on the Fantasista...... This is what I'd personally prefer over them bringing over reels. I've pretty much started to become a Shimano only kind of guy when it comes to reels, but I'm willing to try rods from pretty much anyon...
