Re: Dobyns Champion 701SF for panfish?
Every time you hook up, you'll be like Roland Martin yelling: Oh son, it's a giant. That's a good one. . .  I love dobyns rods. But reel seat design on dobyns spinning rod is not as good in my opinion. There is no foregrip with only a little reel nut in front of the reel stem. If y...

Re: craft beer
My wife and I enjoy searching out different craft brews and we have found some really outstanding brews, and here are some that we enjoyed this past year. Though a fairly big distributor now, Sam Adams continues to craft some outstanding beers. If you can find it, try "Bonfire Rauchbier" it is absol...

Re: dx 743 or 744?
I see that you picked the DX743... outstanding stick for the techniques you mentioned - Senkos and Flukes... the 743, is my dedicated Fluke rod and my Senko rod when I'm tossing Senkos to cover or when I'm on water that holds big fish.

Re: Fluorocarbon vs braid
which type of line do you guys prefer fishing in light cover for jigs? I know a lot of guys use braid, I used to use fluoro all the time and decided to try braid and noticed I was missing a lot more fish. I feel this was because I was using a xfast tip and with a non-stretch line made me miss fish ...

Re: Fluorocarbon vs braid
should I buy a lower pound test if the line is going to be that stiff? I would start with probably 14 or 16lb in either brand depending on the cover fished, maybe even 12lb if its light enough. Its really not that bad, just different from what you have been using.Just saying dont go all out on your...

Maybe it's a Southern NJ thing but I do the same as njbasscat. Pitch Senkos to cover with a Steez 103 w/Megabass finesse spool.

Powell Endurance 6101 Spinning for Drop Shot ?
I see that TW has the Powell Endurance 6101 Spinning on sale, and I was thinking about getting one for the wife, as her Drop Shot rod. Anybody have any experience with this rod ? And if you do, what is your opinion of the rod for that technique ?

Re: Dedicated tube rig.
Good recommendation here !!!!godshippy wrote:You can pick up a slightly used Dobyns DX742SF for around $240, and then pick up a Shimano Sahara 2500 for about $50-60.
Throw on some 15# braid and some 6# fluorocarbon leader and you will feel EVERYTHING.

What size spinning reel for dropshot/shaky head?
Which Steez spinning reel would you recommend for drop shot, shaky head, etc.; Steez EX or the 3012H ?
Or, which size do you use/recommend for drop shot/shaky head ?
Thank you and Happy New Year....

Stripper. Models cost too much money, are too high maintenance. I should have heeded your advice: 4 years later… http://i1146.photobucket.com/albums/o521/mcyl81/1234857_163597680510716_1155911073_n_zps7fba6ab4.jpg I'd probably have a Rover pulling a Ranger loaded with Megabass gear by now if I tick...
