Re: high end fluoro choice??
Tatsu fishes a lot like InvizX. It handles well. Softer lines like these usually tie better knots. I believe Seaguar says Tatsu has high density inner core and a softer outer core. Tatsu is more sensitive than InvizX, but, like I said earlier, nowhere near as sensitive as the harder lines. Seaguar r...

Re: high end fluoro choice??
The softer lines like Tatsu do tie great knots.

Re: high end fluoro choice??
Really like both Shooter and Superhard, but Tatsu is on a another level. All the abrasion resistance of both, but a lot easier handling. Sensitivity is very important to me and Tatsu (or any Seaguar fluoro line for that matter) is not nearly as sensitive as these two lines. Just look at the TT revi...

Re: First year of team Daiwa?
I worked in the tackle dept of a Turner's Outdoorsman when I was in college in the late 80's and early 90's. I did most of the reel tuning and repair. The TD1Hi made me a Daiwa convert for life. We sold a ton of them, but they never came in for repair. We also had the whole line of the TD rods and t...

Re: high end fluoro choice??
It's good to see another person make the jump to the high end. Several people have said on other threads that Superhard and Shooter are probably made by the same machine in the Toray factory. That would probably make the Superhard a better choice because you get more for the money like you said. I c...

Re: Sunline Super FC Sniper
Yes, Sniper is great. And yes, you should buy fluoro by whatever diameter you want to use. You should not pay much attetion to the test rating. I had some old 8lb Tatsu that I put on a spinning reel yesterday to fish DVL because I was out of Sniper. I missed my Sniper.

Re: New Ballistic Spinning
Daiwa spinning reels have always taken more effort than most reels because they have a more sturdy bail in my opinion. But, this is neither here nor there because I have never used the handle to flip the bail over. It puts twist in your line each time you flip it over. I always use my hand on the ba...

Re: Best way to coat the first foot of braid to prevent tang
First suggestion: use a monofilament leader Second suggestion: fly fishing floatant Third suggestion: sewing thread wax oe Is sewing thread wax harder than Chap Stick? Chap Stick makes mono and fluoro float better, but I have not had great results with it making braid much stiffer. I am looking for...

Re: Best 7'6" Composite Deep Cranking Blank?
depends on your definition of composite, since any fishing rod could be considered a composite :) Are you looking for a fiberglass or "graphite"? 4c710HM would be my choice trim to taste! The action is faster than the "moderate" rating that stcroix has on the label. I measured the tip angle at arou...

Best way to coat the first foot of braid to prevent tangling
Hey guys. I love to fish braid on top for fast moving fish. Unfortunately, my braid wraps around topwater hooks, as well as spinnerbait and buzzbait frames. I don't feel the braid scares these fast moving fish and I hate using leaders. Do any of you have any ideas on a coating that would stiffen the...

I figured you would chime in Vince. Why do you only have 3?

Re: rear hook hanger rationale
I custom wrapped an open ended hook hanger on my Loomis dropshot spinning rod above the handle to the left. I was surprised that the line would catch on the hanger on the cast. Make sure the that an open ended hanger is on top of a spinning rod if you put it in front of the handle. I prefer a drop s...

Best 7'6" Composite Deep Cranking Blank?
I am ready to build a deep cranking rod. My rod box in my boat tops out at 7'6". I prefer a little faster flex, if possible, and I like to error on the stiffer side for DD22's and Series 6 cranks. I won't be throwing smaller cranks on this rod. The Phenix X-13 looks like a possibilty. Do you guys ha...

Tatsu handles great, but it is not the most sensitive fluoro. You will really notice how less sensitive it is than Shooter.

Re: Berkleys 100% florocarbon
100% is a quality line. It has a large diameter for the test rating, but it is on the more sensitive side. It has what I would call average knot strength and average abrasion resistance. It handles okay for a fluor on spinning, but not nearly as well as Sniper or Invizx. I used it for two years on s...
