Re: Long distance spool for sv103
Picked this up and cut foam to fit the compartments. I also added some type of foam tape to the top of the lid. They don’t move when the lid is closed and it’s pretty sturdy. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/150x100q90/922/GYWznE.jpg Cool idea, thanks! I think I still want something smaller to ho...

Re: Long distance spool for sv103
I keep meaning to try the Zillion G1 1016 in my Steez sv tw, but both of mine are loaded with heavier line then I would even use on that reel. I picked them up last time TT had then in stock and kinda regret not getting a third. I have used them so far in both a sv103 and a Ringa SSS and that spool ...

Re: Megabass Orochi XXX or Phenix Feather Bass
Wanted to post an update on the Black Themis now that I have had it out for a while and caught some bass on it. All in all, i really like it. It is exactly as advertised, a Light power rod with an XF tip. I have been using it with an Alphas FC and an sv105, both spooled up with 7lb Sniper. Most of m...

Re: Anybody else mess with the Fuego CT?
I picked up a pair of them as well, but I had to pay $66 per. Still half what a pair of Tat SV's would have run me. Adding bearing to the knobs is a no-brainier, but I have never messed with a levelwind before, is there a good write-up somewhere?

Re: Rod for Bantam (MH)
Tackletrap still has the megabass xx tour versatile in stock, on clearance for $199... Yup. I picked one up on sale. Pretty nice rod. Its got a lot of backbone and a nice tip. I think it wouldn't be ideal for the lighter jigs you want like 1/4oz but, could work. I plan on having it to throw frogs, ...

Re: Anybody else mess with the Fuego CT?
Is the Furgo CT salt-safe? It's an aluminum frame, so it should be, but I cant find a definitive answer anywhere. The more I look into them the more I think they are what I want for my kayak trolling rods.

Re: Anybody else mess with the Fuego CT?
This thread is timely as I was just about to buy a pair of Tat SV reels to use for kayak trolling and light tackle jigging around the chesapeake bay. I was originally going to buy a pair of Alphas 103h reels for this but I have come to accept that I want something a bit "heavier" for these combos. W...

Re: New major craft rod.
I would love to hear about the Speedstyle, so many of the MC rods have nearly identical ratings and it's hard to guess how they fish in relation to eachother.

Re: Advice for a 1/2oz jig rod and some long-winded musings.
I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the FMJ. It arrived today and out of the tube I am really impressed. It is crazy light and with an sv103 on it, it is ever so slightly butt-heavy, which is exactly what I wanted. I can get a really comfortable grip on the reel/seat and even manage to get my fin...

Re: Advice for a 1/2oz jig rod and some long-winded musings.
Over the past 10 years or so on TT, I think "the best 1/2oz jig rod" might be one of the most asked about, debated & uncertain of all the topics in the rod subforum. My rule of thumb for jigs is 'double it'. If using a 1/4oz jig, get a rod thats good with 1/2oz. For a 1/2oz jig, look for a ro...

Re: Advice for a 1/2oz jig rod and some long-winded musings.
The FMJ is a helluva 1/2oz jig rod in my opinion. It's a special rod in my arsenal...one I find myself reaching for often. Extremely sensitive in my hands. I can't imagine you'd be left desiring much more. I have read a lot of posts like this about the FMJ which is why I am leaning towards it. What...

Advice for a 1/2oz jig rod and some long-winded musings.
“When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more worlds to conquer.” I know it’s a misquote, but I am now forced to admit that the last rod conspicuously missing from my from my collection is a dedicated heavy jig rod. I am looking to rectify this situation in the next f...

I assume there isn't a transcript of that anywhere? I never could stand the "lets interview someone on a loud show floor" video stuff, like a little sound-attenuated interview area is not a huge added booth expense here people!M Perry wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4uzMW7ssas
