Re: “Finesse” Jig rod

First of all, neither of those jigs are finesse. Those are compact jigs, a very different animal, a regular jig with a compact profile. A 7/16oz Eakins jig is a finesse jig, lighter hook and thinner skirt, this is a big difference so you don't need a finesse jig rod. For what you want to do I think ...

Re: Sensitivity

I think the way a rod feels in hand plays a big part. If the weight, balance and reel seat make the rod comfortable for you to use then it will be sensitive. I know if the handle and reel seat aren't comfortable to me I'll be adjusting my grip constantly and then my focus is split between fishing an...

Re: UPS causes Tacklewarehouse Issue

Where I live UPS is so much better tan Fed-Ex and it isn't even close. I seem to always get anything from UPS delivered on time, Fed-Ex is a crap shoot. UPS has an established route so anything coming from them usually shows up at the same time of day, Fed-Ex it will depend on how the drivers are fe...

Re: Moderate Flipping Rod

Is there a preferred length you need this rod to be? I'm asking because you can get a Falcon low rider 7'9" heavy power, moderate action for $130. Now the rod is rated 1/2oz to 2oz but I'm willing to bet the rod has enough tip to pitch a 1/2oz weight.

Re: Best wake baits / waking cranks?

My favorite, and what I consider the best is the Mann's Waker. The 1 Minus is good but it will dive deep unless you slow it down, the Waker can be reeled fast and still produce a wake and it doesn't blow out at high speed like others. The Arashi wake crank is ok but you have to reel it slow or it bl...

Re: Rapala DT6 Alternative

Bagley Sunny B medium diver!!!! It dives to the same depth as a DT-6 which is one of my favorite cranks. For the last 3 years I've found myself using it more than the DT-6, it has a good wobble but its shape gives it a slightly tighter action and it has really been a fish catcher. Tennessee Shad, an...

Re: strength of the rod

Basically the line rating shows what power the rod is eg. M-MH-H and so on. It is just a guide as to what the rod is going to be used for. Contrary to popular believe, rods are not intended to boat flip fish, even when done properly the rod isn't designed for it. So don't look for any correlation on...

Re: Who is the MOST over rated ?

Tell me about it. Too much emphasis on names, origin of build, etc. Every company will outsource, and that goes for damn near everything out there in the world. I bet there are many countries out there that go "such and such was made in the USA, what a piece of chit!". Its a safe bet that rod...

Re: The most UNDER rated..

Gen 2 Mojo Bass. They changed from SC-II to SC-III for the gen 2 Mojo blanks, same blanks as the Avid series. That's why they are better. The Avid series are great sticks, but overpriced imo. WRONG!! I've heard this before and it isn't true. Yes, the gen 2 Mojo blanks use SC-III graphite but they a...

Re: Who is the MOST over rated ?

I agree with Dobyns rods being overhyped. The Saavy looked fine but had a major sensitivity issue for the price point. My biggest issue with Dobyns rods are they are making them overseas yet charging American made prices, now if they knock $80 to $100 off the champion and champion extreme then the p...

Re: Strike King Thunder Cricket

There could be a couple different things happening here. The first is that Strike Kind may have found a loophole in order to get the blade attached in that way. The other thing is that they may have obtained a licensing agreement but that would have to come at the expense of Evergreen or Z-Man so I'...

Re: whats your favourite tube and how do you fish it?

River Rock Custom Baits tubes are the best tubes without a doubt. I fish a lot of smallmouth and I've used every tube on the market and nothing comes close to theirs. I use the 2.75" and 3.5" pro series tubes the most but if I'm T-rigging the tubes the 4" Elite Series tube is the way to go. https://...

Re: WEC CRANKBAITS

The reason the wiggle wart market isn't as robust as it once was is due to other baits working well. Specifically the Spro rock crawler and the Don Iovino/Major Craft Zone Hunter. Both of those baits are producing like the old warts and they all seem really good so you don't have to buy 8 of them to...
