Re: Tiger Muskie video from last weekend

Learn something new everyday: did not know muskies were found as far south as New Mexico. Awesome job at slaying them! They are planted by the NMDGF to control rough fish populations. Washington has implemented this program as well. They are the sterile Musky/Pike cross. It has provided tons of new...

Re: 2014 beginning lineup

Great lineup. That Extreme Mission looks lovely. I think that HAS to be my next rod. I have put it off for too long. I put it off for too long as well and just had to have one. It ate up my funds for a TD-Ito for now, but it is well worth it. It's the only rod in my current lineup I would seriously...

I use the Daiwa stock red oil or Shimano sotck oil. Have a lot of both!

Re: 2014 beginning lineup

Get ready to love the EMTF! It's extremely versatile. Nice line-up. I have been killing with it. I've caught more fish on it since I got it than any other rod this year. Couple 4's, lots of 2's, and plenty of dinks. I use it for weightless T-rigged Senkos only right now, it's my go to stick. I fish...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Waters about 2 feet down so you have to skid them over some soupy mud to get them to shore. I tried stepping on it once, once

Re: new to crankbaits. question on rod

I use a composite rod and I set pretty good. I do sweep to the side like most guys have suggested, after you set the hook keep your rod tip down and start reeling. Don't lift the rod tip up because the fish will use the leverage to come straight up and jump. McCoy mean green has a lot of stretch so...

Re: new to crankbaits. question on rod

I would try sweeping the rod to the side slowly. You dont want to rip back with cranks.

It's also possible the fish are short striking the bait and only getting a hook or two barely in them, easily thrown. Try varying the retrieve or bait to see if slowing it down gets better hookups.
