Re: Glue for butt caps
Plenty of builders use straight up Devcon epoxy that can be found in any hardware store. No need for any specialized epoxy here. Plenty of other brands besides Devcon as well.

Re: NFC pricing
The reason the Xrays are cheaper is they are trying to get a good roll out with a minimum of designs in production. Not to mention their financial difficulties. Dropping all their distributors in favor on one distributor. And then undercutting the distributors by selling direct to the public at who...

Re: Help making a 2 piece rod
Would the same rule apply if it's at the butt of the blank? I've not messed around with "pushing the envelope" at all. So, I don't know how short you could get away with. But, down at the butt, you could certainly go longer. There really isn't any flex to be concerned about. So going longer shouldn...

Re: Help making a 2 piece rod
I'm not at all familiar with the rod but my rule of thumb for ferrule construction is the overlap should be 6 times the diameter of the blank at the connection.ccass wrote:

Re: NFC shipping
That depends on blank popularity, current inventory, and production schedule. I've heard months if an unpopular blank needs to find its way into production. Early this summer I had a blank take about three weeks. Recently needed to order another and it shipped in a few days. I'm guessing my first or...

Re: Blank comparison
Also do the SJ and MB fish different? The SJ taper has its origins as an MB taper. A production lot of MB's got over sanded. There were a lot of field failures as too much graphite got removed during the sanding process. But anglers reported really liking the tapers. And so the SJ was born. Today, ...

Re: Scale Recommendation? +PB701MHF Weight
I use the AWS Scale Mate for a lot of my weighing. 500g x 0.1g.
For single guides and really small stuff, I use my reloading scale. RCBS 502 beam scale. It can weigh individual grains of gun powder. A TiSiC micro guide is not even a challenge for that scale.

Re: Blank comparison
Oddly enough, I find PB lighter power blanks make absolutely perfect power finesse blanks. I would say that our definition of finesse really varies then. There is nothing like a St. Croix MLF, or lighter, in the Point Blank offering. There is nothing like an HS9000. A P8400. There isn't even a cran...

Re: Blank comparison
What has been circling around in my small little brain is to buy all three blanks in similar lengths and powers. Built them pretty much the same and see what I like. This is what I do. I have a go-to power/presentation that I spend a significant amount of time fishing and when a new blank comes out...

NFC rolls Point Blank's blanks. That's why they are similar. :)     Wait..... We're you being serious Well, chatted with Aleks Maslow, CEO of NFC. He said NFC does Rainshadow new Eternity blanks also. Dunno sure, but that's what he told me. :) So you then jump to the concl...

Ya, NFC and PB are such different blanks that's a really funny statement. Not to mention the country of origin sticker.Hogsticker2 wrote:MardukFIN wrote:NFC rolls Point Blank's blanks. That's why they are similar.

Soap and water. Simple Green or Formula 409 for stubborn stuff.
Finish it off with a coat of carnuba wax.

Re: NFC DS 761-1 (HM)
You might not be making agressive overhand casts with 3/8 or 1/2 oz but there’s no way it feels under powered with that size weight. This is a very good point...there is a big difference between slinging out big casts and actual fishing. Its very easy to fish over the lure max for a rod when all yo...
