The X7? its got the perfect do-it-all, multipurpose taper that I've used for anything from jigs and t-rigs, to chatter & spinnerbaits, even some crankbaits. I've been hard pressed to find a technique I've disliked with itBuckNaStY wrote:What are you tossing with the EMTF??

Re: Best Dobyns Champion Extreme Flipping Rod
It'd be okay, but I much prefer something a bit shorter. 7'9 is a lot of rod to work frogs with. I prefer the 746 for frogs, and I believe the 736 in the Champion lineup is one of the most popular Dobyns frog rodsquantum angler nt wrote:Would the 795 double as a good frog rod?

I definitely have trouble justifying any other reel as being better, and I used to be a Shimano guy toocarbonduke wrote:To me the J Dream is the best low profile baitcaster. Looks like to you too. Awesome collection.

Re: Cabin Fever Part 2... J-Dreaming of Megabass
So....do you like the J-dream????? Seriously, What do you think of the X7 Destruction? What are your primary uses? Does it feel or fish anything like a longer X4 Destruction? Usually I'd find a 7'10 rod to be on the verge of too long to be fished comfortably, but the thin blank of the X7 allo...

Cabin Fever Part 2... J-Dreaming of Megabass
With season openers still a few weeks away, the wait can get intolerable. Cleaning, organizing, and displaying some of the gear helps scratch the itch, but I'm definitely counting down the days. Here are the some of the rods/reels in my line-up that make my J-Dreams come true on the water 8-) http:/...

Swimbait Rod Options
I'm looking to add a rod that can comfortably toss 3oz. Swimbaits (imakatsu husky hasuzzy mostly, with some gantarels and LC real bluegills thrown in for good measure). I have rods rated up to 3 1/4 oz and 4 oz, but both feel a little overloaded with the imakatsu on it. Any recommendations? I'm not ...

Re: Multi Purpose
I need a baitcaster that I can use for jigs, plastics, and shallow cranks.. ponds and small lakes from shore.. What gear ratio,or IPT do you think would be best? Mostly concerned about the crankbaits.. fast ratio reel and cranks,,usually not a great combo, but I don`t know if its a big deal with squar...

Either a high 6 ratio, like 6.8:1, or 7:1. Any higher makes it more of an effort to slow down if needed

Chronos or Zodias seem to be the way to go at that price point. Haven't heard a ton about the Chronos, but the Zodias series seem to be winners

Re: Imakatsu Alive Chatter
Looks like TW can't get these in due to patent. I wonder who has it locked up in the states? ZMan? That would be my guess--the whole blade attached directly to the jig eye deal. They're the only ones who are so defensive of their patent so it wouldn't surprise me. I fish them like a chatter bait wi...
