Re: On 7' Airrus Rods does anyone prefer shorter handle opti
zmazefsky thanks for the well written comments, in my mind I have a very clear picture of what you are talking about, and now want to give the shorter handle a try when continuously casting -- which is a technique I use perhaps half the time while casting and retrieving spinners with the other half ...

Re: On 7' Airrus Rods does anyone prefer shorter handle opti
Reel Old Geezer and Snidley, Thanks for the replies. I'm beginning to see a general pattern in the responses that some folks find a longer handle too cumbersome, with it getting in the way and being a hinderance rather than enhancing their fishing. I would agree that at some point a handle simply ge...

Re: basspro spinning rods
It may have sounded like I was totally negative on Bass Pro Rods, but that is not the case, and I should have also mentioned some positives. As already mentioned the price is attractive, and they go on sale a few times each year at an even better price. Bass Pro was one of the earlier companies to o...

Re: On 7' Airrus Rods does anyone prefer shorter handle opti
Kbookert, reading your response reminds me of one of my clients who always likes to bring and use his own ultralight rods and reels, rather than use the rods and reels I provide on guided trips. While I often coach people having trouble controlling their casts to cast with two hands for better contr...

Re: Tackle success rate
Rockstar, Wow! there are already lots of great posts that should help you out, but I would add -- nothing amazing just practical. If you want to learn a new technique, talk or better yet, fish with someone who catches lots of fish with the technique, lure, or bait you would like to learn more about....

Ben,
Yes, I am familiar with the means Airrus has provided for balancing their rods, but am interested in the benefit(s) provided by the shorter handle. I suspect someone prefers that option.

On 7' Airrus Rods does anyone prefer shorter handle option?
After reading Tackle Tour reviews, examining forum posts, and talking with Airrus owner Ken Whiting, I decide to purchase an Airrus Ultra XL spinning rod model UXLS701MH. When the rod arrived I discovered that when using the normal handle extension the rod balance is considerably tip heavy and the r...

Re: basspro spinning rods
Lunkerrr, I've owned and had the same problem with both the Binoic Blade and Extreme series rods from Bass Pro Shops. The problem rods were medium heavy spinning rods fished for salmon weighing 6 - 50 pounds. The worst problem was that the finish did not seem to extend much past the guide wraps and ...

Re: Cant handle another 8.5 review
Zander, Best of the year awards in several classes, like you mentioned in responce to my post, should fit the interest I expressed very well, and should share some earned recognition for a year's great products and manufacturers. I would think Tackle Tour's coming shootout amongst mainstream baitcas...

Re: Cant handle another 8.5 review
Zander, Snidley, and reelon, I would like to thank each of you for responces after my last post. Zander, indeed we have e-mailed back and forth in the past, but I would certainly add that I found your long thoughtful post very beneficial in that you answered several questions and or misconceptions I...

Re: I think I am going to boycott Quantum...
TMG, I would bet the last comment GamblerHydra made that other manufacturers may not have any better information is correct. For testing purposes you may want to call other manufacturers with the same type questions concerning their reels to see if they have the answers. If not, switching manufactur...

CONCERNING MAKING TACKLE TOUR'S ROD AND REEL REVIEWS EVEN BETTER - As I mentioned in my first post, Tackle Tour's rod and reel reviews are the best I've seen. Reviews have also been getting better over time with new measurements and more specific comments included in the reviews. Some anglers may th...

Re: Cant handle another 8.5 review
mhood,
Thank you for the compliment and the welcome, both may be more significant than you realize. As mentioned in my first post I've been reading Tackle Tour reviews and the Forum for a considerable amount of time, so I greatly respect your opinions and those of many of the other forum regulars.

Re: Cant handle another 8.5 review
Greetings to all from Alaska, where I've been a devoted follower of the Tackle Tour website for several years, but until this point had not participated in the Forum. I registered today to participate in the discussion of scoring on Tackle Tour reel reviews. In my opinion, more objective review scor...
