Re: Rethinking my Shimano Faith
Japan's new Premiere Abe is trying to weaken the Yen so their exports will be more competitive. The net effect is that the US dollar will gain in value versus the Yen. Hopefully this will allow Shimano to avoid such shenanigans in the foreseeable future. I have several generations of Shimano JDM and...

Re: I need some new fishing bibs, help.
One more for consideration. Ditto on the Cabelas Guide Series, but equally good is the BPS 100 MPH suit. I have the bibs equipped with zipper side pockets and large bellows pockets on thighs. All storm-proof zippers. Reinforced knees, but no padding. You get what you pay for in foul weather gear. I ...

Re: Price Drop on many Megabass Rods @ The Tackle Trap!
Japan's new government is determined to make Japan exports more competitive by printing endless quantities of new Yen. All imports from Japan can be more competitively priced. Maybe Shimano can realign their product names and we will have "real" Curados and Chronarchs again. LOL.

Sure, and vice versa. My old Kistler saltwater popping rod makes a great Rattletrap rig.

Re: day to day casting reel storage
Any combos used during a day fishing go home for a gentle rinse and air dry. Then I fit reel covers and rod socks and they're good till they go back on the boat. I back off drag for sure to keep the C shaped drag spring washers from fatigue. I also back off the cast control from habit. My original r...

Re: Worst fishing show
Bassmaster Magazine has a regular feature that puts a pro angler on a "mystery" lake for a day. Conditions are often brutal. As I recall, Bill Dance did pretty well compared to others. Fishing on private lakes with little fishing pressure surely cuts production time and expense, so that's good for t...

Re: How did you choose your user name?
My username on the old Chrysler 300M board was Silver_bullet. Being lazy, I reused half of it, ergo Texas_bullet for this board. Don't own a Bullet boat....a Skeeter goes fast enough for me .

Re: MAXIMA Ultragreen
I have 20# Maxima on my BPS Big Bass Nitro reel. I have successfully lobbed 4 oz. weights (hard!) and AL rigs with no breakoffs (so far). The line has been on the reel over a year.

Well, for pure bling, I have to go with the Viento. Only Daiwa baitcaster I own. To each his own.

Re: Braid for Umbrella Rigs
Went out yesterday and tried a YUM bama rig using 832 65 # test. No complaints, and I was able to partially straighten out a hook that was caught in a snag. At $40 a pop it is good to be able to do that.

Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty
Dominant left-handed, so reel righty baitcaster and spinner. Not so much because of any strength advantage, but RH reels were the only equipment available to me when I was a kid learning to fish .

Re: How do u store your tackle gear
Rickman1...I thought I would have a whole room with large built-in bookshelves when my daughter moved out, but She Who Must Be Obeyed did a complete makeover as a guest bedroom :( . There was a nice work table in the room and it would have been ideal. But you know "When mama's happy, everybody's hap...

Re: How do u store your tackle gear
Half my rod and reel combos are locked in the boat rod locker and the boat is in an indoor storage center. I don't keep pricy Vision 110 jerkbaits and similar hard lures on the boat. Triple digit heat in TX will warp and split them. Most of my soft (smelly) plastics stay in the garage during cooler ...
