Re: Hobie vs. Native watercraft

I have about 5 of each of the RAM Revolution, RAM Aluminum Tubes, and RAM Tube 2008 (plastic), and have been using them for about a year. The most versatile of the three are the RAM Revolution. They have a strap to lock your reel in place, they easily accept spinning, and casting reels, I've used as...

Re: Hobie vs. Native watercraft

No hard feelings. I know I haven't been on here long, and don't know how my credability is here. Kayak fishing is a passion of mine, I'm no expert, but try to be as informative as I can. This is a great site with massive ammounts of information from all over the world. I do like Hobie, and I'm not p...

Re: Kayaks & Fishfinder's

Check this out: http://madfroggear.com/liberator/liberator.html ;) Hmm. How do I get that on a wave walk? Just get a Scotty mount? I would use the Yak Attack Gear Track, or the Yak Attack Mighty Mount. Mount either one to the toon of your Wave Walk, and mount the Liberator Mini to the Gear Track, o...

Re: Hobie vs. Native watercraft

I say demo both and you will know what’s best for you. The Mirage Drive is more efficient than the Propel System of the Native, the hull of the Hobie is more efficient also. Mirage Drive with Turbo Fins is faster. With the Mirage Drive of the Hobie in shallow water you can flutter the fins where you...

Re: Rod leashes

If you can pry my Shimano Stradics, CI4's, Curado 200E's, and 300E's out of my hands or give me a better quality piece of equipment for a cheaper price I'd jump on it, but that would be after I wear my Shimano's out. I would rather buy a $200 reel and have it last for 3 years, then upgrage the drag ...

Re: Reccomendations for first Kayak

I love the Hobie Mirage Drive kayaks, I have a Pro Angler, and Revolution 13. I understand the broke college kid and not able to afford one (I was there for a few years). I just wish I had known about kayaks then. What kind of waters will you be fishing big rivers, small rivers, ocean, and bays, far...

Re: Rod leashes

I don't use rod leashes due to entanglement problems if you do happen to do over. I see them as a safety issue. I recommend using rod floats, I myself don't use anything because I never have over $2000 of combos on the kayak at one time. I've never flipped a kayak I've fallen off and I grabbed the k...

Re: kayak fisherman question

How many rods I bring depend on what kayak I'm fishing from, and what determines what kayak I'm fishing from is the water I'm fishing wether it be a big river, small river, lake, pond, or the ocean. For larger lakes I have 6-8 rods because I encounter many different situations and different applicat...

Re: Kayaks & Fishfinder's

I'm in the same situation Fastfish,

Just bought 2 handguns, and accessories, need a fishing finder since I sold my Humminbird, and Go Pros are a must this year for shooting and fishing. I need more money, or less expensive hobbies.

Re: Kayaks & Fishfinder's

Before you purchase a FF, especially if you're thinking DI, gimme a call first. I love they way my DI reads structure, but there are some downsides to it that were very noticeable when fishing alongside Ben, who has my exact model without down imaging.. I think my next big fishing investment is gon...

Re: Kayaks & Fishfinder's

I just purchased a Hobie Revo 13 and having a HB 597 ci hd di installed. I'll let you know how it goes. MidTNKayakAngler- how are you mounting the transducer on the kayak for si? I thought about it, but after lots of consideration, I didn't want to hang it over the side (don't think si works throug...

Re: Kayaks & Fishfinder's

I have been using the Humminbird 383C for the past two years. A local kayak angler was looking for a fish finder, and I ended up opening my mouth selling him mine, and all the mounting hardware, and installing it for him. So now I'm in the market again. I'll probably stay with Humminbird and go with...

Re: A weekend to remember German Browns, Smallmouth, Striper

Actually pretty easy standing up with him. I stood and fought a shark off the beach in Panama City back in late Sept from the Hobie Pro Angler. Hopefully this winter I'll be able to catch some bigger stripers.

Re: hobie mirage pro angler

FIgured I would chime in again. In late Sept I purchased a 2012 Revolution 13 and upgraded to the ST Turbo Fins. It's a great kayak, although I can't comfortably stand up in it it's easier to transport than the Pro Angler, faster, better turning response, and is very comfortable. I can't say that it...
