Re: Auction site gems
Definitely on both counts. I'm hoping the seller can ship it EMS or something a little faster than what's listed, I'm going on a 4 day trip on the 14th

Re: Steez 7.9 gears
Depends if the gears are the same size to achieve the 7.9;1 ratio. MB could have gone with smaller overall diameter gears to achieve the same ratio, making the gears physically smaller.

Re: Alberto leader knot with Super8Slick
It's no longer than the rod so it never makes it onto the spool, 6 - 7 ferry depending on the rod.

Re: Alberto leader knot with Super8Slick
Sx1 bro. We using 12-16lb with leader no issues. I might make that step soon Ryan. I'm going to be fishing with a friend on the French River mid-July so I'll see how what I have now performs there and if it really drives me nut then I'll be looking to make a switch. I'm only seeing this problem on ...

Re: ICAST-2015
How long does Daiwa usually take to get their new offerings to market after they've been officially revealed at iCast? I'm asking because there's going to be around $300 burning a hole in my PayPal account and I want to know if I'll be able to get my hands on one of the new reels in a reasonable tim...

That's on my maybe list, I'm probably going to wait until next season though. I have lots to get me through this season already.

Re: Alberto leader knot with Super8Slick
I'm not having any problem with the tag end BRONZEBACK32, it's where the mainline goes into the knot that's becoming a problem. Toad: I think I might try some Knotsense, it's worth a shot. ScoobyDoo: That's what I'm afraid of happening. How much of a difference in casting distance do you notice betw...

Re: aftermarket hook keeper
I don't see why you couldn't/shouldn't use some heavy mono instead of the o-ring. That being said, the o-rings should be stout enough.

Re: Brass and aluminum together
I'm unsure if that's tongue-in-cheek or not, either way I'm sure Shimano grease won't hurt your gears.mark poulson wrote:Will your grease work on other reels?
To the OP: does your reel have an aluminum gear side plate as well? That's just as responsible for alignment, maybe even more so, than the frame itself.

Re: Alberto leader knot with Super8Slick
I might a few more wraps to make up for the light lines and then add a lock knot or two to see if it's the transition from main line diameter to knot diameter causing that segment of the braid to take such a beating. Now that I'm thinking of it though, I was throwing a small inline spinner with it s...

Re: Alberto leader knot with Super8Slick
What would you use instead? It's 15# S8S. It very well could simply be creating but it really looks like the weave is loosening. I'll see if I can get a clear picture of it.
