Re: Weight or Balance..thoughts?
I believe that you should go for both weight and balance also. But if I had to choose it would be weight. When your rod is light then tip heavy doesn't come down to much of a weighted feel. To balance out most rods you have to add a lot of weight. To me weight is weight. Balanced out rods just weigh...

Re: Megabass Punching rod
I don't punch because none of the lakes near my home have any grass. But, they do have log jams. There is a lot of wood that collects in the back of creeks and coves that I flip and pitch into. Much of it is big wood and it stacks in tight. Docks are another big target that I hit. I currently use a ...

Re: Megabass Levante
So how are these rods as far as blank straightness and guide placement? Is everything straight? I went to purchase a XX Spinnerbait Special when they first came out and could not find a straight blank. I looked at 8 different XX blanks and they all were crooked. The guides were put on in a stright l...

Screws for Scorpion 1000 Handle
After 12 yrs I finally wore out one of the screw heads that attach the handle on my Scorpion 1000. Does anyone have any they would be willing to sell or does anyone know if there is any Shimano America reels that have a screw that will work? I would like to get at lease two of them. Thanks, Crankbai...

2012 Antares
I am thinking about getting a 2012 Antares. However, I do not like the way that the non handle side plate fastens. I have had some bad experiences with the side plates on some Shimano reels moving under your palm after they have been fastened down. The feeling of that side plate moving under my hand...

Re: New Curado for cranking?
I use the 6:3 for cranking. It works so well I bought another. I have thrown deep crankbaits up to 1oz and it works beautifully.
The casting distance is excellent. Personally, I love the drag on this reel. It is rock solid.

I agree with jwflipper. I used a MH Helium for 7 yrs for the same types of baits that you are wanting to use. The rod is well worth the money.
