Re: Best fit for dobyns to warm my Sol...

Wouldn't go much below 1/8 oz except for for some of the topwaters I'm using now. Got into smallie river fishing, it's pretty addictive. Gitzits, drop shot, small shakys. Which I think puts me at a 702, but may upgrade to a Pixy Type-R down the line and like the idea of 1/8 being in the sweet spot o...

Re: RCS knob loosens with turn

Yes, makes sense, just not sure that you mean by "tight" (as in no movement/clicking, which i did, all the way to white-knuckling it until threads strip...). Primary confusion for me is why one side would differ that much from the other. It was dramatic. Anyways, all good. Thank you all for your help.

Re: RCS knob loosens with turn

Silly question - are you tightening down the screw? Or are you leaving it a bit loose to let the knob turn? I don't use loctite at all... ;) Leaving loose so knob can turn. Thanks for great advice! Did end up using loctite. Applied it with fine hair brush, had the concern on gumming up the outer be...

Best fit for dobyns to warm my Sol...

Hey Ive a dx701c on the way for my half-hearted Sol (boga 7s on ize spool, still need tips polished) and wondering if the reel can really accomodate the potential of the rod for really light stuff. Trying to avoid buying another reel like a pixy...want this to be my finesse baitcasting rig for river...

Re: Jigs from a kayak

I dont know....depends on how quiet you wanna be. I use a wavewalk, so i can stand up easily, but im still 4 inches shorter than the waterline. It's not a boat deck. But a Gitzit doesnt make much of a splash flicked out at water level on some light spinning gear. Definitely enjoying yak-sm...

Great transaction and a nice guy. Reel was mint, and shipping was fast. Really appreciate it.

Thanks, Daniel!

Re: RCS knob loosens with turn

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. Weird to me in that i cant figure out what the defect or problem is. Didnt know if it was something i could address with washers or lubrication. Will head the loctite route and hopefully keep it out of the bearings using your suggestion.

RCS knob loosens with turn

Hi I feel like I saw this posted and solutions prior to the Feb meltdown...I can't find it now (may be buried behind many, many ZPI handles for sale or wanted). I have a new ZPI handle, and two RCS cork knobs I'm installing on my upgraded Sol. One of them keeps loosening to the point of coming off. ...

TheHookUp Tackle Trade-In Program

Wasnt sure where to post this, I apologize in advance if this is incorrectly placed.... Does anyone have any experience with this service? I'm tempted to try it out, got a lot of stuff to unload/upgrade and little time or patience to do so. And they got what i want. :big grin: Would appreciate any i...

Re: What is your favorite fishing knot

Alberto with those knot tying rings. I took the hi's tacklebox/cal's instruction seriously. ;)

Tie 832 to flouro leaders. It's crazy strong; everything else fails before it does, it seems.

Uni knots for everthing else except palomar for drop shot.

Dobyns 681sf

Hey all I've just received a Dobyns 681sf. I've a dumb question...if it's rated light, why does it spec out at a medium light range (4-10lb line, 1/8-3/8oz)? It's not a huge deal...i wanted a very light rig for this spring, just can't tell why it's rated this way while the Champion Extreme is rated ...
