Re: Expride Anyone?
I bought the JDM 7'0 heavy a few months back and finally got to fish it this week. It's a really great rod, very (very) sensitive, no issues with the ferrule or anything. Gorgeous rod. Been throwing ikas, fat impacts, top waters, spinnerbaits. Using an excense DC :big grin: and 20lb braid. Pulling l...

Re: favorite baits to texas rig
I am with you on the Ikas. I always use center pin hooks on them to minimize ripping as best I can. I've ended up using 4/0 flipping hooks with a CPS to get a better hookup ratio than the wide gaps and to get more weedless, but both hooks work fine. I used to weight them if I was deeper than 8 or so...

Re: Arkham Asylum
Man that is just outstanding. And might be a really awesome way for figurine storage. Probably the most expensive way ever, but hey.... Not to get off topic but I am always interested in best practices for Lego storage and sorting. I got my own ways but geez...that's 10x worse than sorting the hairi...

Re: nrx 842mbr casting
Thanks WoodT for the info. 1 more question- would the 843 cast 1/4oz lures well(such as rapala x-rap 08) or should I stay with the 842? Thanks Depends on the reel you use, I guess. If you do have the right reel probably work on the 843, but might not hit right balance between "it does it okay" vers...

Based on everything I am taking in from this thread, I am definitely going to chum the river with meth next time I am out.

Re: nrx 842mbr casting
842 softer on both counts. 852 only really loads well for me at about 3/8 total lure weight. 842 is fine at 1/4 or so.romans wrote:How does the nrx mbr 842 compare to the nrx 852? I know the 852 is extra fast but I wonder how the tip and the backbone compares between these two rods.

Re: nrx 842mbr casting
Thinking of picking up one of these to try. However I'm a power fisherman. Just wondering what techniques I may be able to use this rod for? Cranks what kind? Topwater what kind? Buzzbaits possibly??? Thanks in advance and any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!! Soft tip and a gentle ...

x2. I ended up drop shotting a ton this season and was surprised about how much I preferred doing it on a spinning rod.Johnny A wrote:

Nice review, Cal...and awesome bluegill pics! Those would be a blast on a finesse BC rod.

Re: 6 rods to cover all facets of bass fishing??
Rods that look, feel, cast, and perform like the following would be my six. I don't crank much and I don't punch much, so I wouldn't use specialty rods for those techniques. For grins I included my reel selections. Dobyns DX701c w tuned Daiwa Sol w IS Finesse spool NRX 842c MBR w tuned Core 50 w Yum...

What are you hit liking about the CPS springs (the Owner CPS twist locks he's pictured)? :-k You should try them if you haven't already. Most twist-style trailer hooks are awful (Trokar, VMC, Gamakatsu)...I agree with you there...the Owner springs with the center post are completely different. Night...

Re: Flippin'/ pitchin'; same thing, right?
flipping pulling out line with non rod hand and sending bait out, bringing it back in by pulling line again with free hand. Pitching is sending lure out with an underhand pitch and reeling it back in. Correct. Also flipping is "something I cannot do without feeling awkward." The term is often used ...

Re: Exsence DC / Antares / Metanium Set Up Questions
Plus you can't bass fish until June right? You have plenty of time to think it out Me? Well yeah. Don't bum me out. Mostly annoyed as those last 2-3 weeks prior to my boat officially out of the water were just miserable in MN. 15-20 mph winds and mostly in the 40s....surface temp dropped out ...
