Re: One Texas rig/small rig jod
Since MB X7 Extreme Mission rods are near impossible to find, I would recommend a MB F5-75X Javelin. With a Steez SV TW, I can consistently cast 3/8 oz. 195-200 feet with a moderate, one-hand cast at the "low end" of the rod's range. Distances were measured with a laser range finder at my "casting ...

Re: BEST reel for weightless fluke
I am planning to test this Pixzilla as a weightless fluke reel at my "casting park" tomorrow if the wind dies down a little. Went out to my "casting park", where I have distances and targets marked, to compare the Alphas SV TW 800XHL and my Airy Red Pixzilla. Both reels were used with a Daiwa Steez...

Re: Any reviews on the 2021 Shimano Conquest vs the 19 Conquest DC?
In March I purchased the most recent Conquest DC 101HG. My hope was to replace my OG Conquest 101DC since the new version was a smaller frame size. I tested the casting performance of the new reel at a “casting park” where I have distances and targets marked. With the same rods, the OG 101DC outperf...

Re: Where can I find the old (blue) Sttez AGS rods?
If you are interested in the EVA (blue) version of the 7'6" Steez AGS spinning rod, I will be selling one. It is mint and could pass for new. Great rod, but I do prefer the new Compile X version.

Re: UPS does it again
My experience with UPS in the Bay area has been exceptional. Multiple rods individually shipped to me in the past month. Several more rods shipped to me via UPS over the past few years. The UPS online website will display where the driver is currently located in close to real time. And on two occasi...

Re: 2021 steez ags rods
It's approximately 112g or 4 oz. I've used mine for Vision 110's and Pointer 100's quite a bit and I like how it performs. I tend to use the 6'9" Medium Universal Light for jerk baits more than the MBV because I prefer the shorter length. I throw a lot of light swim jigs, cranks, flukes, smaller sp...

Re: BEST reel for weightless fluke
Please don't apply any spool tension to the Zillion. They made the dial hard to turn can called it a zero adjuster for a reason. It's to stop guys from cranking down on it and ruining they casting distance and then complaining to Daiwa like something is wrong. Every reel I own except my Zillion HLC...

Re: BEST reel for weightless fluke
... The Alphas SV TW is a great reel for casting distance and accuracy. I have a "casting park", with distances and targets marked, where I check out combinations and/or results of my tuning work. The Alphas/Steez combination is casting a 10g plug 175-180' with a moderate one-hand cast consistently...

Re: BEST reel for weightless fluke
For weightless flukes, I have been using an Alphas SV TW 800XHL paired with a Conquest 842C. But currently evaluating a Steez AGS Compile X 7'2" "Moving Bait Versatile" with the Alphas. The Steez will likely replace the Conquest. The Alphas SV TW is a great reel for casting distance and accuracy. I ...
