So...definitely a Core over an Mg7?

From Tackle Tour's review at El Salto, they claimed the new Shimano Core will have more features than the Mg7 AND look sweeter! Can you believe the US is actually getting the better reel?!. Cal...Zander want to chime in? Can you chime in, or are you not allowed . Quotes from the review at El Sa...

Another vote for the Compre...very light weight stick for $100, and an unbeatable warranty.

Re: Dobyns Rods Spec sheet enclosed......

Looks like the Dobyns rods will be a legitimate contender in the middle rod market. I just hope the Dobyns split grips balance a little better than the Powells. Do the Powell's use Lamiglas blanks as well? I imagine TMike is a Dobyns Pro-Staffer...are you already using these rods?

If you do a e-bay search you´ll see that they are selling in mint condition for over $270.

Re: G Loomis rod for all-purpose spinnerbait fishing

I also owned a Loomis SBR, and found that I like the mbr843 better; it just has that ideal tip action paired with the perfect amount of backbone for 3/8-1/2oz spinnerbaits. Anything heavier than 1/2oz I go with my 844....

Re: Best baitcasting rod for $100

Simple enough question. I've been out of the fishing world for the last couple of years and am in search of a new rod. What is the best baitcasting rod around $100 bucks with these specs in mind: 7FT Medium heavy fast action rod with a lure weight rating of 1/4 to 1 ounce. I expect to use this rod ...

Re: Daiwa Sol Vs Zillion

The Sol will work better for lighter baits, period. I owned two Sols before I went with Pixies, and I now own two Zillions. The Zillions will cast a 3/8oz bait farther than any reel I own, and is capable of casting lighter weight baits than that, but the Sol will surpass it with 1/4, 3/16, and 1/8oz...

Re: What's your next addition?

I see a lot of folks plan on buying a Gancraft, which I know nothing about. Just did a quick search, and found a site that has the entire line for 20% off. They sure look sweet; anybody care to share why I should buy one? :D

Re: Steez Compile X test

Sweet...thanks Cal. It's crazy to think all these high tech rods we crave are trying to match or beat 15 year old GLX graphite. There may be a point to where you just can't get any more sensitivity out of graphite. That's ok with me. When I purchased my first GLX 2 years ago, I was able to stop putt...

Re: Steez Compile X test

I'm a little confused; in your review of the BCR803 GLX, you stated it was "the most sensitive rod I have ever fished with". I own this rod, and agree with it being the pinnacle of sensitivity. In the review of the Steez, you stated it matched, yet did not exceed the BCR in sensitivity (which I agre...

Re: Lee Sisson Cranks

I throw a lot of cranks, and love custom balsa cranks. The Sissons just don't have the apparent refinement of others when you hold it in your hand. From the carved body to the paint...they just aren't perfect. They don't suck however, and I have caught a few fish on the 6 or 7 that I own. I'd say th...

Re: The ABU REVO's Phantom "Lightness" mystery so

Like on your site, where you mention the weight of a Megabass rod, and that you feel that's irrelevant, the balance is key. That was one thing that frustrated me when reading about Megabass on the Megabass site. In going down their 'principals' they went in to their spill on how important balance i...
