Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

30mm Roro spool with 0.06mm Sufix Nanobraid. 6.0g with line is insane  I'm not a big fan of linear magnetic brakes, but combined with Teton 6'3" UL my Steez CT SV TW with the Roro spool is my best UL setup. With movable inductors or Aldebaran BFS 16 I prefer faster and stiffer rods, but with ...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

Thanks for posting this comparison. I received my Steez SV CT TW Roro spool today, and I went here to try to find how it compares to the KTF.

Has the KTF fixed inductor?

Re: Alphas 2019 vs 2017 model

The big advantage of CT SV is the versatility. I have Steez CT SV TW, and I'm using it from 3 to15g. I have Alphas Air with Ray Studio spool, with this reel I by far prefer a softer rod than the one I use with CT SV when casting 3-4g. It feels like the CT SV is extending the casting weight range bot...

Re: Inductors: Type R+ vs Mag Z

At Japan Tackle it's stated that Zillion HLC springs are 4x stiffer than stock 08 Zillion springs. How does 08 Zillion springs compare to SV?

I'm looking for a spring 2-3x stiffer than SV.

Correct, the term wobbler is used for crankbait in many European countries.

Yes, I'm sure. I'm talking Air BFS, not Air.

Re: Ray's Studio vs HH Air BFS bearings

Only aluminium housing, no metal spacer in Alphas Air with HH Air BFS. I don't remember how it was with Steez SV, I sold the Air bearings I had for Steez together with a SS SV because Air was better than Air BFS for what I use the Steez for.

Re: Ray's Studio vs HH Air BFS bearings

HH Air BFS bearings have the same type aluminium spacers as the Ray's bearings. I ordered some bearings with the last Ray's spool I ordered, I expect to receive the package late this week. I'm asking in case the bearings are bad, then I would order HH right away. It seems as I can wait and test the ...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

I just upgraded my Alphas Air with a Ray's spool and I like the casting performance a lot. The Alphas Air is now better than 16 Aildabaran BFS with stock spool and bearings for casting light lures (I've been testing with a 2.0g crankbait). I'm not a big fan of the Alphas platform. I wan't to center ...

Ray's Studio vs HH Air BFS bearings

How are the Ray's Studio BFS bearings compared to HH Air BFS?

I've been using HH Air and Air BFS for years, now I've bought a couple of Ray's Studio tuning spools and want to upgrade the bearings.

The 6.3:1 weighs 148g, 8.1:1 weighs 153g, does this mean the 6.3 has aluminum gears and the 8.1 brass gears?

I will report as soon as I've done some initial testing. We are still getting more snow so it will take some time until I can give a comprehensive report.

The prices are so low for the Tsurinoya Dragon rods ($40 including shipping) so I ordered both the1.52 and 1.82m version.

Re: SS Air or 16 Aldebaran BFS

Thanks for sharing your experience. As soon as I've tested my new honeycomb spool I will probably order Ray inductors for my Steez SV, T3 SV and Alphas Air spools. I've been lucky and haven't had sticky inductors for any of my reels, not for the extremely overbraked SS SV I sold either.
