Re: building your own rods/mhx
A few years back I purchased 2 mhx blanks and components from matagi to attempt 2 custom rods I ended up building most of the rods myself.I paid an experienced builder to wrap the guides for me. So technically I only did a partial build. All in all it was a great experience and the rods are still us...

Re: Daiwa T3 spool question
The sv 1000 is fantastic in the t3. Great spool as you can use it in the steez/tdz/ platform as well The SLP 1010 is also a fun spool Any of the MB FX spools ZPI mg spools for the tdz platform also work with a bearing change on the handle side of the spool shaft MX and Ballistic spools are also chea...

Re: Ringa SSS help required
This can be tricky, the screws are notoriously easy to strip Remove palming side plate and spool, there are 2 screws, one near clutch other near level wind These will enable you to remove the trim ring on the handle side plate This will expose further screws. These are the ones that can strip easily :ev...

Re: Most refined t3???
Ahh ok and where would one source the mx gears if they wanted to upgrade? Plat doesn't list the gear sets in the schematic, it just skips over the number of the gears. From what I recall, the gears for the mx were unavailable at one time from daiwa, not sure of the situation now Keep an eye on the Ja...

Re: Most refined t3???
Are the ballistic and mx gears different? Yes,that's the main difference The mx and 1016 have digigears,I presume the quality/tolerances are better The Ballistic also has the heavy brass drive shaft They rest have the significantly lighter composite drive shaft (plus bearing rather than bushing as ...

Re: Most refined t3???
Lets say a guy wants to smooth out and shut up a Balistic before it becomes a door stop. What parts should I be looking at geting? Have 2 of the limited Aussie ballistics that got the treatment, MX gear set MX drive shaft /with bearing Dump the heavy handle /knobs This sorts it out mechanically,and...

Re: TD-X 103HiL
Great solid reels.
As mentioned they sit a bit high up compared to modern offerings
Weight is also an issue http://japantackle.com/daiwa-tdx.html
The beginning of the tdz legacy

Re: Most refined t3???
The T3 SV is one of the few T3 variants I have never owned Sure it's a good reel especially at the clearance prices available these days The fx reels are missing the 4 bearings on the knobs,an easy upgrade Manufacturers feel the overall reel weight is a bigger selling factor than bearing count ...
