Re: Daiwa Saltist HRF, Alphas, Smak or SW Millionaire?

how much line capacity are you after, is weight an issue, and do you prefer round or low profile reels? I`m looking to get a couple new reels myself and tossing up between the saltist hrf or a td luna 203/253 but don`t know of anyone who has used the saltist hrf yet.

Re: Reel advice?

if round reels aren`t a problem then you could have a look at shimano calcuttas in 100b and 200b sizes or team daiwa luna in 103 or 203 size. personally i`ve used a couple of abu 5600C4 reels for a number of years now and have had no problems. only replaced the drag washers with carbontex.

Re: Calcutta/Luna/Record Casting Reels - Trying to Decide

the 300 size luna has the non disengaging levelwind and a ratchet. bit hard to beat the abu`s for value for money though.

Re: Surf Fishing Tackle?

seem to have forgotten a reel style here. the good old alvey sidecast is one of the best beach fishing reels around as sand does not destroy them like it does to other reels. best reel for baitfishing. spin or overhead for luring.

Re: Daiwa saltist HRF

Any one got any comments on this reel. any input appreciated. I`m about to upgrade a couple of reels . i use them exclussively in salt water. Have been looking at the luna but prefer a low profile reel. already have a coastal but would prefer a little more line capacity.

Re: Rod for Daiwa Saltist??

shimano have some two piece jigging rods that are also a reasonable price. they are in the T curve series. maybe under a different name in USA. as we seem to get similar products in australia but with different naming.
