Send it to Shimano or a trusted tackle shop. Sounds like you got a reel in need. My exsence is smooth as a baby's bottom

Re: Daiwa Tatula in Saltwater

I used the Tatula exclusively in saltwater last year without a problem. Did a Simple rinse and lube after each trip then ready to go

Re: Tatula line grooving (yes I know another thread)

Surprised to see Daiwa actually charges for what's clearly a manufacturing defect. My tatula has only been fished a few times. No problems so far. I haven't read the other posts to know this answer but does the groove really matter in performance or just appearance?
Thanks Mick

Re: What inshore reel?

I have had good luck with the shimano curado 300 series in salt. Tuff enuf with minimal maintenance.
It holds about 200 yards of 50# Spectra and gets 15# of drag for when Big Moe shows up.
Since the saltwater trips are rare a citica might serve the purpose

13 Fishing Reels

So what's the opinion now that this new reel has been o the market for a while. Saltwater, casting, reliability, etc. Does it get a thumbs up?
Also what Shimano and Daiwa's models does it compare with
Thanks

Re: Daiwa SV105HSL or Steez SV103XSL?

Sorry for the hijack
Looking for greater line capacity on my Alphas SV105.
Since you can fit the shallow sv105hsl spool in the steez 103 will will steez spool fit the sv105 reel as well

Thanks, Mick

ROD POWER

I fish saltwater exclusively but use a few freshwater rods for calico bass. I've noticed people referring to "rod power 1-5". "Scuse my stupidity but what does this mean?

Re: alphas sv worth the money???

Good news is the Daiwa Alphas casts very well, easy to palm and has smooth drags. The bad news is the line capacity. I should have paid closer attention to this. Don't expect to land anything with shoulders.
I will have to find a replacement spool. Does Daiwa make a deep [er] spool?
ymmv

Re: SALT REELS

1st impressions were positive. Good distance as long as there is light thumb pressure on the spool. It's filled with 30# spectra. We ran in to some big sheepheads I think I am going to need more line. A big calico or was it a sheepy spooled me. Is there an after market deep spool available? tha...
