Re: 853c Loomis in GLX or NRX

No longer own any NRX casting but loving my new GLX 844mbr and 892c. I feel no remorse letting go my NRX and hope to be adding a GLX 843mbr. I will say I did not like the blank on the GLX 893c.

Re: New GLX 853s vs 893s JWR

I love my GLX 892 paired with Metanium MG. Had the 893 didn't care for that particular blank on that model. I easily throw 3/8oz jig/tube with my 892, also works great with blade baits and smaller paddle tail swimbaits.

Sorry my bad didn't notice your talking about spinning.

Re: Tatula Signature Series

Was not a fan of these when handled at a fishing show as I thought I would be. Blank was a total turn off guess my loss if they actually fish good but I will never know.

Re: St. Croix vs Loomis: stirring the pot

I've fished both the Xtreme and new Elite side by side with my NRX for a season edge clearly goes to NRX. My source told me recently expect a change with NRX lineup later this year.

Re: 2 or 3 power GLX?

I handled(not fished) all the new GLX rods at a show in Suffern NY. I personally would not use the 842c for 5" soft stick baits especially if you need to t-rig them around moderate cover. Definitely move up to the 843c IMO, on another note the 844c was my favorite GLX I handled, extremely versatile ...

Re: Is there a release date on new GLX spinning?

jpmoney, curious if you weighed your new GLX DSR yet?

FYI, if interested in a NRX DSR send PM as I have a lightly used blue one. Just don't DS enough to justify a dedicated stick as I have a 902s if need be.

Re: Is there a release date on new GLX spinning?

If this is what to expect I'll just go NRX 872s over GLX 892s, was just hoping to get away from the recoils. Wish you luck with the replacement. [-o<

Re: Is there a release date on new GLX spinning?

I don't have a answer but noticed today during Zona show with Seth Feider on Mille Lacs, Mark was using the GLX 892s for tubes. Rod looked pretty impressive, the 892 will definitely be in my boat come spring.

Re: Best all around crankbait rod in the $200 range?

Tough to beat a Hammer Cranking stick well below $200. I have their 7'3 M and 7'6" MH just very light and comfortable to fish with. The MH is what you want in either 7', 7'3" or 7'6".

Re: NRX 893 vs GLX 893 2016

I'd be interested in weight of the 893 and balance point. My guess is 4.5oz. The NRX version is 3.8 to 3.9. Mine might be on the light side at 4.3oz so the high might be 4.5. I've weighed a few NRX 893 blue and green between 3.9-4.1oz. For the record I'm not stating the new GLX are not sensitive ju...

Re: NRX 893 vs GLX 893 2016

Yes/No.......I fished my GLX893 few weeks towards the end of my season. While the build quality and balance are improved over the NRX there's just no replacing those NRX blanks. If you have many NRX no reason to even look at the GLX IMO unless the recoil guides are that big of a issue for you. Lets ...

Re: New GLX rods

FYI, with my Metanium HG this combo feels even lighter than with my NRX 843. Without any water time yet hopefully within the next few days I get the feeling it might have a hair more power compared to the 3 power NRXs.
