Re: Custom Glass Spinning?
All I can say is to try it, I just don't feel the need to pay to have one built, but this is tackle tour after all  . As little as I use spinning tackle for cranks the bucoo rod works fine for me. If I wanted glass, the browning silaflex rods are glass and come in spinning and can be picked up ...

Re: Preferred reels for distance
Longest casting definitely depends on weight you are throwing. 1016 spool is hard to beat with 3/8-3/4, and believe it or not I can BOMB a 3/4 oz lipless farther with a citica 200d and heavy stock spool than with any other reel I have. For supreme long distance though my daiwa ss1300 spinning reel i...

Re: Best bottom contact rod for under 150$
I'm definitely thinking about trying one or two of those hammer rods. What weight ranges are you throwing on that rod? I'm needing something to throw mainly single hook reaction baits like spinnerbaits and buzz baits with the occasional Texas rig and maybe even a few lipless or squarebills. From the...

Re: Quantum Tour MG PT any good?
It is made by doyo, same as the kp and other 13 fishing reels, and also the same as okuma. I don't own this specific quantum, but I've owned several accurist and energy reels. I have always liked quantum's acs braking system, but the reason I have gotten rid of my quantums and replaced with daiwa an...

Re: Buzzbait Setup
I use 2 different rods for buzz baits and both double as shallow spinnerbait rods. I use a 6'8" fenwick autos mh/fast for roll casting and target casting around light to moderate cover with a 7 gear tatula and 14 lb mono. I use a tatula 7'1" mh for longer casts or around heavy cover with the same re...

Re: Jackall squad minnow 80
I use her baits year round for smallmouth, walleye, and hybrids and love this bait! These, the pointer 78, and x80 trick darter are all personal faves of mine, but I catch more on the jackall on average than the other 2. I fish tailwaters below 2 local dams a lot and always catch fish on jerks in cu...

Re: What Fluorocarbon should I buy?
I'd use shooter or tatsu in 10 or 12lb. As a side note I've been told that the viento uses the 34 mm size spool like the tdz and others and a spool pin swap is all that is needed to swap in an sv, 1016, or other spool. You might ask in the maintenance section to be sure or pm pikeroadbassin or call ...

Re: Abu Garcia Redmax Ship
Not real big on a abu but with shallow spool, flipping switch, and beefy drag it might also be a good pitching, flipping, and punching reel

Re: Spool Question
The t3 1016 spool is excellent for throwing baits 1/4 and up. I have mine in a t3 but I'm gonna try it in my sv103 this weekend. It can throw a lot wider range of weights than the og zillion spool Imo but it isn't compatible with the original zillion unless you get the sv103. If you want to do that ...

Re: Need help choosing a baitcaster for a custom rod build
I probably won't get a chance to go out again til next weekend I've been sick with the flu or something this weekend and haven't made it out. I've got several rods I can try it on to see how it casts. I'm going to try it on another rod the same length as what I'm getting built but in a little lighte...

Re: Your most versatile rod?
The Loomis mag bass taper is definitely a very versatile taper. I've used my buddies 842mbr, 843mbr, and 844 mbr quite a bit. He has the older full handle models with recoils. He throws everything on them except for deep diving crank baits or swimbaits. Super sensitive, light, and just an amazing ro...

Re: Need help choosing a baitcaster for a custom rod build
Thanks for the help guys. I've already got a tabula type r and just got an sv103 that I've only used a couple short trips so far, but I really like it. I have a t3 1016 also, so I'm gonna try the sv103 with the stock spool and 1016 spool and see which one gives better distance and still enough contr...

Re: Daiwa tournament ss handle swap
The reel not having instant anti reverse is a non issue for me as I have never had a bad Hooksett or lost fish because of it. Honestly I've never noticed at all until you brought it up. And I mostly use mine for techniques and baits that I work with the rod and basically just take up slack a foot or...

Re: Okuma Inspira Spinning Reel (2015 model)
I don't know about the inspiration but I've used an okuma Rtx 30 for a summer. It retails at 100 but can be found for a little less than 80 on fleabay. Pros are it is very lightweight with a very smooth drag. If I remember right the 30 size weighs under 7 oz. Cons for me were that it didn't have muc...

Re: Defy Black, Fate Black, and Fate Chrome
I would also like to know the differences between the omen black and fate black as both are listed as 30 ton. Is it just the components, or are these completely different graphite. All these are some very nice looking rods under 100 bucks and if anything like the omen or envy, they should be great r...
