Re: what rod to pair with a Monoblock 100XR
Congratulations on the Block! A couple of questions though, on the top waters, what size/weight will you be throwing? Also, length minimums and maximums? Are you leaving the stock gears in the Block or are you going to speed it up to 7.2? Thanks Gary! I'd say typical topwaters would be in the 1/2oz...

what rod to pair with a Monoblock 100XR
Just picked up a Megabass Monoblock 100XR and looking for recommendations. Budget? Well, not ARMS level. :D Say $250 - $400. Prefer Megabass since I have mostly USDM Destoyers and Orochi XX (gen 2) now. May use this inshore for stripers (top water) and bass fishing of course. Some kayaking, some boa...

Re: Steez A spool options
I've kept the stock spool in my Steez A on the FMJ. I've got a 1016 spool in another Steez A. And I've got a ZPI spool in my Steez SV TWS. I'd get the ZPI as they're not going to be made anymore. It may not have enough line capacity, but it may. That ZPI puts a smile on my face when I cast.

Re: Reel for MB Destroyer FMJ
I've got one with the stock spool and one with a 1016 SV G1 spool in it. Both with 30# Sufix 832. The G1 spins up a little faster, maybe casts a bit longer; has the SV advantage. They're on different rods (FMJ & Javelin) so it's not apples to apples.

Re: Reel for MB Destroyer FMJ
I’ve got a Steez A on mine... as said it balances better than the Steez SV TW. Great combo.

Re: 'Downgrading' from the NRX?
On the spinning side I switched from a NRX 852s to a Destroyer Addermine. I find it's more comfortable, better balanced and (for me) just as sensitive. Plus the fit and finish is much better. The NRX felt lighter, but the Addermine handles better and just feels 'right' in my hand. Right at the top o...

How does the OTOMAT compare to the Oneten Special? I use the Oneten for top and jerk baits and love it.

Re: Sunline Shooter Finesse Question
Thanks for the suggestions/recommendations everyone. I got some Tatsu 8# and have been using that for the last couple of weeks. So far line twist is minimal- much less than the Shooter but more than using braid. It is noticeable more "stretchy" than the Shooter. I can see the difference between the ...

Re: 18' Steez Type-2 or 16' Vanquish C2500xxx
I tried a Daiwa Luvias 2500 after using Shimano for a while. The Luvias is IMHO heads and shoulders above my Stradic ci4 and Exsence ci4. I’ll admit I was a little surprised on how good it is. I was looking at the Steez, But thought I’d try the mid-line Luvias since it was easier to get. I’ll probab...

Sunline Shooter Finesse Question
I tried the 7# on a spinning reel (Daiwa Luvias 2500H with a 2506H spool) and had the worst line twisting I've ever experienced. I spooled it on the right way (thanks interwebz) and applied KVD conditioner many times during the process. I went out the next day and after about 3-6 casts, BAM...so muc...

Re: Conquest 842S or Megabass Addermine
I'm with jpmoney. My NRX 852s (not a Conquest as youre asking about) was nowhere near as balanced or comfortable as my Addremine. If the Addermine is less senstitive... well I don't know if I can tell. The Megabass also casts better though a range of lure weight and the action IMHO is spot on. I'd s...

Re: Good 1000 size spinning reel for 2-4lb test
Second the Luvias recommendation. Mine is smoother than either a Stradic Ci4+ FB or a Excense Ci4+. I thought both the Shimanos were butter smooth till I got a Luvias. It weighs about an oz more but not noticeable on my rods.

Re: Daiwa Luvias 2500H spool options
Well that does make sense! Thanks.
I think the 15 LUVIAS 2506H S is the ticket for a finesse spool.

Daiwa Luvias 2500H spool options
I have a Luvias 2500H with the deep aluminum spool and was wondering what Air ABS spools would fit. I have the USDM model. Looking at Hedgehog Studio, the 2004 looks like it would fit the bill to give me a finesse spool. Or would I need to stick with the USDM model spools (1003 or the 2510PE-H)? Tha...
