Re: Cost to ship a rod is lunacy
Just shipped a rod for $15.85 via USPS priority mail (2 day). Had a larger tube (3 rods in one) that shipped for $48 USPS. They didn't want to take it, but I had done it online and sweet talked them. The new rule I heard was anything over 97" (lxWxH) is a no go. My larger tube was technically 2 inch...

Re: Reel covers?
Bass Pro (for the ones that didn't come with a cover) have seemed to hold up fine over a number of years.

Re: What are your thoughts and experiences
Those are interesting rods (North Fork Ex). I wonder if they designed the blank or just using off the shelf tapers.

Re: How do I Care For My Kayak
I just do a quick fresh water rinse whether I've been in fresh or salt water. Sometimes a quick wipe to get the pollen/junk off.

Re: How many rods?
I try and limit it to three rods for freshwater- top/jerkbait, trap/small crank/spinner bait, and bottom contact. Different rods for each depending on time of year and location For inshore, I try to keep it to two- one ML and one Med spinning. As said above, less is more and though I could carry 2-3...

Re: Cost to ship a rod is lunacy
Looking at my selling spreadsheet-- I was paying $14- $16 early last year to ship USPS Priority mail with insurance. It sure has been creeping higher since then......

Re: MB Dark Sleeper
I've got three different weights and colors. They cast great, feel great, but I haven't caught anything on them yet. Not even a nibble. Could be me, could be the lure.

My father-in-law has had good experiences with both his Abu Orra 2 Inshores. Much better than his Curado I over the last couple of years. He's very diligent about rinsing and maintenance as well.

Nice catch! I've always wondered about the mouse/rat lures and if they're successful. Now I know. Congrats.

Re: what rod to pair with a Monoblock 100XR
Congratulations on the Block! A couple of questions though, on the top waters, what size/weight will you be throwing? Also, length minimums and maximums? Are you leaving the stock gears in the Block or are you going to speed it up to 7.2? Thanks Gary! I'd say typical topwaters would be in the 1/2oz...
