Re: Need a rod for a new-2-me reel.
That OG Falcon Expert is moderate and very light in the tip. It would be excellent for small cranks. I had one and sold it several years back, which I regret to this day. I currently have that Villian 2.0 6-10MLXF, and its a great rod for bottom contact. It fishes above its price, for sure, really ...

Re: Need a rod for a new-2-me reel.
Well....I currently have these rods that are within the lure weight range I am looking for. Maybe knowing this you can see a place that could be filled with a different rod. The sad part is the past 3 years I haven't gotten out much. Had planned on changing that this year, but with covid 19, me badl...

Re: Need a rod for a new-2-me reel.
What are you planning to use the rod for? Exprides are great at their price and I feel that they are great moving bait rods, but IMO I there are better options for bottom contact. (Others might disagree.) Depending on what you want to do, the Expride might be the perfect choice, or people can sugge...

Re: Need a rod for a new-2-me reel. Budget increased.
Probably the best reel I will ever own so I want a nice rod for it. Never paid more than $175 before (was a used rod). So this will be a new experience for me. Looking at the Expride 7'2" Med Lt+. From what I read these are the best rods in their price range and some say they fish like $400 rods. I ...

Re: Rod Weights
First rod weights are from a thread on bassresource. Don't know if it was linked because I wasn't going to read through 18 pages of posts. :big grin: Bottom are some of my rods that I weighed. -Dobyns Sierra 703C- 4.3oz -Dobyns Sierra 734C- 5.0oz -Dobyns Fury 705CB- 4.4oz -Falcon BuCoo SR BRC-6-174-...

I have a 7.2:1 gear set in an Airy Red. Plus Ian did a few other things to it.

Re: NEED help choosing a new reel
I’d go with a good condition used OG Steez 103 from one of the Japan sites for around $170 Wouldn't an OG Steez 100 be better? From what I've read the 103 can be hairy with lighter weights unless you change the spool ... The original Steez 103 comes with a Type R+ spool. It is made to handle lighte...

From what I've read the 103 can be hairy with lighter weights unless you change the spool (RCS 1016 works great per Mr. Skinner). I picked up one recently from him, but no ...

Re: Refreshed 13 concept reels
I picked up a used original Concept A a few years ago. I am not the type of person that notices the little things. I immediately noticed how good this reel felt the first time I mounted it on a rod. It did take me a bit longer than normal to dial in. A fellow member on another forum mentioned he had...

Re: Is Daiwa becoming a Tatula???
For me, fishing is about being outdoors, enjoying the fresh air, and using some cool gear. Catching is actually secondary. It certainly enhances my day if we catch fish, but I don't have to catch fish to have fun. I enjoy appreciating how my gear performs casting and working my lures... I appreciat...

Re: Most forgiving baitcaster
I have the older Excense DC. Not a cheap reel even used, but no thumb needed. For less money look at a Magforce 3D reel. Probably a bit smaller and lighter. They don't need a thumb either with the right set up. Will have to take someone else's word on the SV spooled reels. Haven't tried mine without...

Re: Gulfcoastwader : Feedback Request Topic
I've never bought from or sold to Brad. I did try to give him a few spacers a few years ago. Try being the operative word. I've never asked for money for my spacers as it brings me joy to help a few of my fellow fishermen. However, Brad would have none of that. He sent me more goodies than the space...

Oops. I read the request wrong. Thought it was for Gulfcoastwader, not a reply by him. My apologies.
