Re: 13 Fishing Defy Black baitcast rods
I know most guys on this site think they need a $300-400 rod to fish with, so I guess this post is for those who can live with fishing with a sub $100 rod.

13 Fishing Defy Black baitcast rods
Ran into some 13 Fishing Defy Black rods today. They were at a local Fins Feathers & Fur store. They are a hek of a deal for $59.99!!! I like the baitcast models more than the spinning models. The baitcast models seem to go with the Fugi System guide placement, but the spinning models did not. They ...

Re: Casting Rod Suggestions in Sub-$150 Category
A 13 Fishing Omen Black 2 should be high on that list!!
I own or have owned a lot of $100 rods, and this ranks as one of the best!
Also...... Made in USA/
I just grabbed a couple Omen 2's for $85, with free shipping! :^)

Re: Casting Rods... What will you spend?
I've owned $300 rods and $300 reels, and in my opinion, the best " bang for your buck" is in the $100-150 range for rods and for reels.

Re: new carbonlites
Gunna have to try a couple 2.0's in the 8.3 ratio when they go on sale!
The regular carbonlites and the 2.0 are both white. The 2.0 is all white, while it looks, like in pictures, the regular has a dark silvergray edging around the spool border.

Re: new carbonlites
Jason, did you get the Carbonlite "2.0" model? It has a 8.3:1 ratio. Or did you get the "regular" Carbonlite with the 7.1;1 ratio? I also see that there is a weight difference between the two models. The 2.0 model is .9 ozs heavier (5.8 vs 6.7) Weight difference is probably because of the brass main...

Re: Budget Sweet Spot... Casting Reels
Ive owned many top end reels, $350-400 each, but after my garage fire back in 2012, i scaled down, and im just as happy! Love my BPS old gold colored model Carbonlite reels ( own 4 of them) with orange seal bearings in them, they'll pitch and cast light baits as good as ANYTHING out there, and i got...

Re: Using Loops on Jerkbaits -- when necessary??
I use a quality duo lock snap, attached to the factory split ring on the bait, on all my cranks and jerks. I've probably caught 10's of thousands of bass on them over the 30 yrs I've been using them, and I don't think I've ever lost a fish due to it coming open or any type of malfunction. It gives t...
