Re: reins ring craw

And, while you are placing your order, if you also throw a wacky rigged worm, get some of the larger Reins Cross Swamp worms. For anyone who hasn't seen these, they are the "X" shaped worms (the "X" lying on its side) and when you rig them on a wacky hook properly, they float down through the water ...

Re: Native's smaller Titan: the 10.5

Well, the 10.5 is a real price bargain, I think. Anyone buying a higher end pedal kayak knows that after your purchase, it isn't uncommon to spend another $500 and maybe more, to set it all up. I was really surprised by the price. +1 Then, its maneuverability is off the charts. So, when you are fish...

Re: Native's smaller Titan: the 10.5

No, I don't own one, just posting some general comments about research on new models coming out. Greg Blanchard on YouTube has posted several videos of the Titan 10.5 and he loves it, this after him fishing recently out of the larger Titan 13. I will say that I find the price point to be very attrac...

Re: BlueSky Boatworks Catamaran styled . . . kayak?

I'd watch the video Robert Field posted several months ago on YouTube. This thing could really have "range" in fishing applications. If it'll fit on a truck and roll down to the water, that, or disassemble really fast, it should attract an audience. I may get one. I must stand to fish at least the b...

BlueSky Boatworks Catamaran styled . . . kayak?

I've done a few reviews here, some neat innovations coming to the market. This one, a cat-styled kayak, has almost nothing innovative but seems to "bring it all together" in one fishing vessel. If it truly comes in priced around $3500, it could be a winner in at least a small segment of kayak fishin...

Re: Stretching flourocarbon line

The line with the most stretch? For me, it'd be the red monofilament that comes on a stock Zebco reel. If you get caught up on something with it, and need to break off, you have to move back about 15 feet before it'll snap. I don't think I have ever seen anything close to this amount of elasticity i...

Re: Another hook setting question

Fun to see an old topic revived, sort of like a fire that appears to have died out, then resuscitates itself. Good topics are this way . . . they endure. I'd add two observations. One is just general to any presentation that if the line movement itself gives you any clue to the direction a fish is m...

Re: Finesse Spinning Reel Size Recommendation

A couple of things come to mind. The first is a larger 3000 or 4000 series spinning reel is at no disadvantage over a 500 or a 1000 series in casting lures using ultra-light sized lines. In fact, since the coils of line that spiral off the reel are larger, it should cast farther. If you attached a 3...

Native's smaller Titan: the 10.5

No, I haven't taken one out yet but I did see Greg Blanchard's short test on YouTube and I generally like what I see there. But, the big surprise for me? Its price point of $2499, only $100 more than a Native Propel Slayer 10. The small Titan is 9" longer and 3.5" wider at the beam and weighs 35 or ...

Re: Stretching flourocarbon line

You seem to have read the TackleTour review of fluorocarbons where its tests determined that they were actually about as stretchy as monofilament lines . . . with one big caveat. Monofilaments stretch then return to their normal pre-stretched lengths, more or less, after the tension is taken away. F...

Re: Favorite paddletails?

I see Keitech mentioned several times . . . but not its Easy Shiner . Maybe I missed it in another post. I've never used anything with better tail action. I actually prefer to throw mine unweighted where I can run it at various heights in the water column more easily. Nearly weedless, this way, and ...

Yes! Dean Rojas . . . quite the frog angler and very skilled at maneuvering around obstacles to place his lure perfectly.

I need to revisit that video!

Re: crappie magnet for trout

The dock shooting I have seen has been primarily small stuff. I don't see why someone with a light powered rod, a nice parabolic bend, couldn't step it up a bit and shoot something back a bit heavier. A lot of what works depends on the shape and characteristics of the lure/plastic. Lots of big baits...

Re: crappie magnet for trout

With dock shooting skills like that, a guy could drop the anchor and spend a whole hour around a boat house/dock/etc. just hitting all sorts of areas fish like, most anglers can't get close to.

Re: crappie magnet for trout

I had forgotten it was called dock shooting! A great description of how it is done. Thank you. It sounds like you have to hold the bait with the same care you do when you're pitching a crankbait into tight cover, or risk hooking a real large mouth. Mark, dock shooting is a hoot. It takes a few trie...
