Re: Rapala and "New" Concept rods.
If you read the entire post the lack of distribution was the issue. They are now available (sort of) and they are really, really nice rods.

Re: Rapala and "New" Concept rods.
I have finally seen/handled some Rapala Concept rods and they are awesome. As good as the highest end Loomis or St Croix EXCEPT that they don't have full cork handles like I prefer. I will buy one or two when I see more than the two models that were in store. I saw them at Angling Outfitters in Wood...

Re: Busted Lip
Thanks Crankbait Maker. I think they have what I need to get one of my "go to's" back in the game. Do you favour polycarbonite lips or the new circuit board type lips for your work.

Re: ARCrank 50 Crooked Bill?
I have a Lee Sisson balsa squarebill that has the face painted on crooked by about 30 degrees but the lip is actually close to on center. It catches fish like crazy and is a great conversation piece when someone asks what I'm using. Those AR products look great but boy do they have quality control i...

Re: Busted Lip
Crankbait Maker would you please tell me where I can get a polycarbonate squarebill lip. I have an old Bagley B 1 square bill crank where the bill literally fell out while fighting a Steelhead. It was a killer antique lure that now stares back at me from my tackle box saying "you would be into fish ...

Re: Rapala scatter rap
I see that Spro has weighed in with the Little John 50 at ICAST. Similar formula with a very wide lip on a smallish bait. John Crews claims it "hunts". It actually looks like it might be the real deal but won't know till we buy one and toss it out there. Cool scale pattern on the lure for sure though.

Re: Rapala scatter rap
I've got the Shad style, crank style and countdown style. To me they are not very erratic. I find that a Nils Master Invincible is more erratic as well as a vintage Shallow Running Fat Rap has more erratic action than the Scatter style lures. Time will tell but, the magic lure eludes my grasp once a...

Those Molix lures look like they are running out of tune That's too erratic IMO.

Re: Hardbait "senko" - dreaming?
If you look at the video of the new Rapala X Rap Countdown Minnow you will see the same shimmying fall that makes Senko Style baits so good for "do nothing"plunking. The Rapala site now has all their lures video'd and these new style Countdown lures will be money for the technique.

Re: Rapala scatter rap
In most places it might be too cold for this style of very erratic bait.

They feel a lot like my 2nd generation Techas. Same guides too. Generally I really like my Technas the only downside from my point of view is the damn split grips. They will be going cheap hear sooner or later. I just bought 2 Elite Tech Smallmouths for $75 at Sail during one of heir frequent sales....

Re: Exploring the "suspend" in suspending jerk baits
My head hurts just reading this stuff. I do know from observation that my baits that suspend in springtime often sink in summer(and are lost when the drag co efficient of a gust of wind makes me lose it and throw a hairball that results in a snapity snap of my line and another $15 gone to the deep o...

Boy those really do look like a Gunfish. Depending on the colour patterns they could be a much cheaper option
