Tatula 150 US is not the same as US 100 or Japan 150.
Line capacity of 16lb/125 yd looks same for both 150 spools. But one is a 34 mm diam (US), and other is 36mm (Japan).

Re: New Tatula 150
After much searching, the US model might be different from the Japan release. Found a few references that call out that it is Magforce Z. And pics look like it's not a deep spool. Just would be nice if Daiwa's own web site called out that it's "Z". http://www.daiwa.com/us/contents/reels/tatula150/in...

Re: Alphabrake - New Kind of Braking?
Great to see you here, Patrik!
We're all anxious to learn the mechanics of this new control system. Can you give us a description of how this cast control works? What kind of mechanism controls the spool?

Re: New Tatula 150
Tatula 100 (USDM), 150 (USDM) - spool diameter 34 mm, Magforce Z Tatula 150 (JDM,) 153 (JDM), 200 (USDM) - spool diameter 36 mm Tatula 150 (JDM), 200 (USDM) is deep spool. Fixed inductor - not Magforce Z. Tatula 153 (JDM) Magforce Z. Ordered 153 spool for my 200 HD from Hedgehog Studio, Japan. https...

Re: New Tatula 150
As mentioned earlier, the deep spool does not allow the Tat 150 to be "Z" capable. From japantackle.com: "Daiwa Tatula HD Custom 150 model is heavy duty model of the Tatula 100, featuring following upgrades from original Tatula. Long 100mm ESD (air-craft grade duralumin) handle, high-grip knobs, 36m...

Re: 03 calcutta conquest 201 digital control brake
Just for conversation - I believe the right controller is the newer part. Notice the white silicone around the sensor? I think this is a factory update (rev change) when it was found that there were water issues with the sensor. (Probably in cool damp use over a long period). The silicone helps the ...

Re: 03 calcutta conquest 201 digital control brake
This looks like a "Rev" change for the brake. My "Generation 1" DC reel's control happens to look like the one on the right. I truly would figure that the parts are interchangeable. Shimano would not make 2 (or more) frames to accommodate brake changes. Tooooo expensive to do something like that. Ne...

Re: New Tatula 150
Not Magforce Z. "Regular" Magforce. The spool is too narrow to accommodate any inductor control. I have the 200 HD (same spool as 150 HD - just diff cosmetic). Converted it with 153 spool (mag z). Was not impressed with the performance of the original deep spool. Between lack of "Z", and heavy spool...

Re: Have you ever broke the plastic gearing of the worm gear?
Yea, never ran into a plastic worm gear. I can imagine it could be stressed out when pulling a heavy drag, and the level-wind moves to an end position. Just enough angle with high torque on the line. Count me in on wanting metal worm gear.

Re: Have you ever broke the plastic gearing of the worm gear?
Never had a plastic idler gear issue. I use reels with disengaging and non-disengaging level-winds. Was doing a "quick clean" of worm gear once without disassembly. Sure enough, I got Q-tip cotton stuck in the pawl. Pretty much had to crank it through to free up and remove the jam. Found out 1st han...

Re: Megabass ito monoblock bespoke topaz
It's not exactly plastic. It's either Nylon or Delrin. Nylon and delrin are very similar. They are very strong, not brittle, and exhibit self lubricating properties. This part of the reel is the Yoke. The elastic property of the nylon/derin yoke are perfect for holding the pinion gear in a near fric...
