Re: boca orange seal and TSI 321?

On a side note, I am now using TSI 301 dipped pinion bearings instead of packing them in grease. So far so good. Are you blowing or spinning out the excess before installing in the reel? Casting spin will cause the excess to spin out inside your reel and I'd avoid that. Spin out the excess before i...

Re: Help..I can't get it to go down.

Another easy way is to open up the image on your computer in the "paint" program and in the tools section you will find a "resize" button. Just click on it and a window opens up and you can downsize it there. The nice thing about the paint program found within every microsoft windows operating syste...

Re: cleaning and maintaining spinning reels

What do you guys do for annual spinning reel care? I've finished all my baitcasters and reel cleaning/repair has been pretty addicting for me this winter. I have all shimano 2500 or 3000 size spools. Looked for info on the web but didn't find as much good info like I did for casting reels. Also I h...

Re: Favorite curado series? *poll*

Where are all the curado B fanclub members?? Right here is one. So far I am the only person who voted for the BSF reels. I still have 4 of them and love them. And I still have a B38 and B5 and regular B201's too totaling 8 B series curado's. I just recently pulled out my old B38 which is a 3....

Re: boca orange seal and TSI 321?

On the Alan Tani site he says that it is the TSI 301 that is bad for plastics because it has a solvent in it, but when the solvent evaporates the 301 is no longer harmful to plastics. Alan says the 321 does not have the solvent and is not harmful to plastics: http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=1037...

Re: Bearing Brands... Any up and comers?

other then the orange seals from ebay This X2. Those Chinese orange seal ceramic hybrid bearings are as good as Boca's IMO. So far I am up to more than 50 bearings strong and all work flawlessly and smooth. I am about to order another batch- and I order them dry lube only. When I get them I remove ...

Re: Roller Clutch - antireverse bearing maintenance

Soak in solvent- I never use water based cleaners. Remove all grease if any. Blow out gently with compressed air. Spray with corrosion X. Wipe off excess and install. I've never had an AR bearing fail.

Re: non spool bearings upkeep

I leave in the factory grease. No need to remove it. I use corrosion X which is the same as reel X, but reel X simply has a thickener in it that helps it stay in place better. As for the AR bearing, I have always heard that grease is a no-no because it can keep the needle bearings from getting in th...

Re: Pros and Cons of Spiral Wraped Guides

There's a con? I love spiral wraps! I get the best of both worlds in one rod. I get a BC reel on top, and a spinning rod underneath. I will never again rebuild any BC rod with guides on top. From now on every single rod I replace guides on will become a spiral wrap. Love them! I can see no wrong wit...

Re: Top 3 bearings

I just ordered ten handle bearings last night on ebay. I won an auction for all ten at $3.87 for all of them. Shipping is only like .50 cents. Some great deals on ebay sometimes... just gotta keep an eye out and hit 'em right at the end of the auction when the highest bidder thinks they won.

All left hand retrieve. Rod stays in right hand always. No switching hands.

Re: "Borrowed" ideas

Yeah well the rules of the site say to steer clear of comments directed at members on a personal level. Some seem to have a problem following those rules. If you don't like what someone has to say it does not make them a bad person because you disagree with their opinions. Ignore it, skip it and mov...

I think the meat of his post suggests if you are going to move on then just do it and quit yapping about it? Hmmmm... another personal directed post. And what would be the point of a discussion forum without discussion? Ah, I see, only certain discussion is allowed. I get it. You know, there could ...
