Re: New lures in your box 2021
Duo Realis and Jackall spybaits. I've never used a spybait but they seem like they would work so I'm going to try them this season. 110+1 Jr's have already been ordered. I have no doubt these will work well. I'm also going to try Decoy Shot Rig Worm 10 hooks for drop shots to see if my landing perc...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!
Without reading 60 pages of this thread, could someone tell me what the best BFS spool would be for my Steez CT SV? Thanks

Re: Kistler rods?
Interesting...just noticed the new Helium and Zbone are built on the same blank. Only difference is Torzorite guides and "AA" cork. Surprised the Helium has alconite and not SIC. As for NFC I can only assume blanks and Edge are a small portion of their business. I say that because they don't seem t...

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
I just installed a new bearing and nothing changed. It feels like the gears to me. After comparing the smoothness of the Steez A to the Bantam, the Bantam feels rougher. I shouldn't single out the Steez A because I can't keep any of my modern reels smooth. My smoothest reels I own are the lower gea...

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
If i were to get the JDM model, is the brass gear upgrade even worth it? If the aluminum gears are as smooth as everyone is saying, then what's the point of increasing your reel's weight by an additional 0.4oz? Durability might be a reason, but if the steez sv tw gears have held perfectly fine for ...

Is anyone changing out the retainer on these to a metal one? I'm wondering what fits. The plastic retainer makes it look cheap to me.

The best hair jig that I have found is the one tied by Luke Ronnestrand that is sold by Thorne Bros out of Minnesota. The Feider Fly is good and widely available.BRONZEBACK32 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 5:21 pmSweet combo's

Re: Newbie Englishman requires American assistance
I think you would want of the slow gear ratio Tranx/Curado/Tatula 300 size reels. A 300 size reel is equivalent to the 5000 size round Abu. The Tranx 300s have been used by musky fisherman for a while now and are proven.

Is there a rod that is considered the best in this lineup? I have a 8.1 Tatula SV looking for a home.

Re: Is it Daiwa, Shimano, or someone else?
I did an inventory of my reels and they're:
Daiwa baitcasters - 9
Daiwa spinning - 5
Shimano baitcasters - 4
Shimano spinning - 3
Abu baitcasters - 1
I've sold off a new Stella and Bantam without regrets. I sold off a couple of Steez A's that I regretted and replaced them a year later.

Re: New Steez A TW HLC
I don't blame Daiwa for going the Shimano/13 Fishing route. People on this forum are atypical when buying gear. The masses look at a box at Bass Pro and think the 13 Fishing reel is better because of the 'features' and anesthetics. You can only live so long on your reputation. I think it helps that ...

I can't remember what line is on the rods. It's 10 lb on the Steezs and 822, and 6lb on the 901.

I fish Lake Michigan quite a bit and these rods cover 95% of my smallmouth fishing. The reels all balance the rods beautifully.
