Re: NRX 893 v ZBone

I have the NRX 893. My zbones are the 2017 and the newer 2019 both with stouter blanks that compare more with my NRX 894. Short answer on what is possible is that both the 2017 and 2019 compete very favorably with the NRX which I adore. My 2019 is the 7'10 four power and it is both powerful and sens...

Re: Kistler Carbon Handles - Experiences?

I saw this post and having absolutely nothing better to do I went out and got into my boat. I have Oct 2019 zbone and a 2017 era zbone with the marbled cork. my preference is to the 2019 traditional cork by a small margin. when I get a new rod I go out an fish it around local pond with some rip wrap...

Re: Kistler vs Dobyns

I have only 1 HE3 around the 2018 time frame and it is the 7'3H exfast. I wish I'd bought another. Bought it to fish frogs but it is so good for delivering pin point casts with big moving baits that I has never actually fished a frog. Rod is about 4.3oz and has a ton of backbone. I set it up today w...

Re: Kistler vs Dobyns

indeed, x3 if you are hard on equipment. i've not seen any positive or negative posts about either brand that I can recall in quarters if not years but Dobyns used to be considered best customer service in the industry

Re: Kistler vs Dobyns

I own only a single dobyns 765 graphite crankbait rod so I can't comment much. What I can say factually is in the last 3 years I have bought exactly 4 rods ,,, (note that I have been on TT since 2005) so my rod collection is far bigger then I want to admit. Of the 4 rods, 3 are kistlers. It started ...

Re: A Message to Our Readers - Let's Tackle This Together

great message and great cause! well done. social distancing is so important right now to help our older and fragile population along with our healthcare workers. This equates to different impacts depending on where you live and we need to keep that in mind. someone golfing or fishing alone in rural ...

enjoyed the review. Megabass is not a rod I've tried before but this one looks great.

Re: North Fork Composite HM-XRay Blank Question

I have one on a zbone. I purchased in October so guess it is the 2019 model. very nice blank. I've got the 7'10 H model. My take is as sensitive as any rod I've owned or fished in a stout rod.

Re: Coronavirus "Covid-19"

i got out with a dear friend and played golf today. It was great to feel normal for a few hours.

my boat is about 1000 miles away from me in Florida but getting out and fishing alone would be great theoropy.

Re: Rods you bought for one technique that you weren't thrilled with initially ...

for me the old gloomis mbr 782 imx. I thought this somehow was for light bottom bouncers and that was a fail. Not fast enough nor sensitive enough. who knew it would be the best jerkbait and sammy 85 rod that I've ever held to this date

Re: What rod/reel combo has/will withstand the test of time?

I will go with my original Shimano chronarch 50 and the Loomis 782. For jerkbaits, poprs and sammy 85 I don't think you would find a better combo even 15 years later the rods imo stand the test of time better then reels. The advent of technology from 2000 to 2010 that helped Mfg process greatly help...

Re: Kistler 2020 prices up!

yeah, I don't really have an issue with the price increase. The performance of the graphite in the H3 I own is better then my classic IMX and GLX blanks and even in 2008 the GLX as I recall was about as expensive as the H3 will be for 2020.

Re: Kistler 2020 prices up!

you might be correct Cal I put my branding hat on and read a 3rd time and came away even a bit more confused. to the original post, - I don't get why the price changed - appears to me the rod has changed in some way because you will notice the Helium reviews started all over again and only 2 exist. ...

Re: Kistler 2020 prices up!

I think it is emphasis on a a material. Upon second look i see NFC in the fine print. I can't say if this existed when I initially posted several days ago but certainly I did not notice it initially. You are expert in this space. Why would someone market an ingredient vs the final product? So much g...
