I guess the size of the reel matters as well, especially for his hands. He likes the SV103 a lot, but it is a little taller reel on a rod.

Never really considered this, but which bait caster is easiest to cast for a 6 year old? I have a bunch of lighter fast spools in my line up. Yes, the HLC spool is still my favorite for cranks, casting is done with such ease. I have three, all in red Daiwa 50ths.

Daiwa SS700 paired with a Loomis GL3 spinning rod.
Ned Rigs, Bait fishing, freshwater, saltwater. You name it, it's done it.

Mine was: Nrx 842MBR casting rod.

I initially bought it for NED rigs, but quickly realized it was absolutely incredible for finesse reaction techniques like scrounger heads, tiny flukes, and tiny cranks.

High quality cork is unmatched, it's not even close for me if I had the choice.
