Check and make sure the inductor and magnets are working properly. Flush the bearings and see if that helps as well.

My buddy has one and he was throwing swimbaits for stripers at the river . That thing is one bad boy, super smooth and it's absolutely launches. It's like a pluton on steroids. Cranking power is tremendous , I feel it to be one of the best round reels out there !

Btw I ended up pulling the trigger on a 2016 certate. I couldn't get enough info on the other spinning reels I mentioned on my original post so I decided to get the higher end certate. I've heard really good things about them .

Been using it for reaction baits in the 40lb, it feels slightly thicker than standard power pro but after some time it get smoother. I like it and haven't hand any break offs or weird issues .
