Re: Daiwa Steez price increase again???

Im not buying it. Shimano's top shelf "made in Japan" reels have not budged . The Malaysian made Chronarch/Curado went up $20...over 10% of MSRP. ;) [-X The Japan made Chronarch E (same as a Curado E) did go up to $199.99 from $179.99 in the 200's size reels. But the Japan made Chronarch 50E is pri...

Re: Ultimate Frog Reel

One other thing to consider is the speed of a Type R or Z2020SH with 32" of IPT is the potential ability to make the frog dance by how one retrieves. Not sure if it would actually work and need to try it. Wondering if anyone has used high speed reels to do this. Would open up the selection of rods ...

Re: Daiwa Steez price increase again???

As far as an exchange rate----when the exchange rate was better for about 30 days after the earthquake/tsunami---did these reel prices drop for a while? or did the supply/demand rue take over then and prices go up? There is a marked difference between a temporary, external shock to an economy and l...

Re: Searching for the most sensitive blank for small plastic

Hello, I’m looking for the most sensitive jigging blank for small plastics. My baits will be small plastics sized 3‘‘ – 4‘‘ and weighted between 3/16 – 3/8 grams. In my opinion the following blanks could be a good choice: Phenix TX-683ML-C Phenix TX-714MH-C St.Croix 5S70MF-G St.Croix 5C610MXF-B At ...

Re: Entering The Other Side

Japantackle.com always has some used reels in it's bargain cave. I'd pick up one of the Alphas to start with. Not only are they great reels to fish with, but their fairly easy to work on and most of the upgrade parts are easily obtainable. ugh... forgot about that one... if you can get the purple o...

Lunker punkers...injected and original wood in 5" and 6". I think the 5" wood only comes in trout.

This is what I use to throw them:

Re: Pixzilla, Pixy SPR, or Conquest 50

I don't think anyone can say mag is better for finesse than centri or visa versa as a global truth. The SPR is so weight reduced because of the two pin centrifugal brake, and that contributes to the easy start up. Put a centri brake wheel with 6 brakes on it and it won't be as good. or, like on my ...

Re: Pixzilla, Pixy SPR, or Conquest 50

All I am curious is just about mag. vs centri brake for casting light weights. Before I heard people said mag. brake was better for finesse and you could see many finesse reels/kits featuring mag. brake such as Daiwa's pixy/presso, ZPI's, KTF's, and Avail also got mag. brake kit for their spool (th...

Re: Ultimate Frog Reel

I'm a wierdo...I have a tuned up Fuego on my frog rod and it works fine.

If I had my druthers tho, It would be a Zillion Type R. The Zillion 50th is a nice option too.
