That looks like a lot of guides for 7ft rod imo.... but I only do spiral wrap so I maybe wrong regarding conventional wrap. I've made couple build with micro guides i.e. torize/sic in 4.0 size but I haven't noticed any distance issue. good side is lighter guide = better sensitivity and balance. bad...

Yeah, you're right - looking at the specs the NRX 842S MR is closer to the GLX 783S JWR. I'll bet the 842S MR fishes about the same except like most NRXs it has a softer tip section - and that would be perfect for general purpose larger bass fishing.
