Re: Golllllly mollllly ! those who have ordered rods from Pl
The comment about the rod being wrapped so tightly that is was difficult to get out is dead on. It took me quite a while to get mine out. It was almost frustrating, but how can you be upset about something like that. same here.. Me too. Got my frist JDM rod, a Megabass, from Plat two weeks ago. Bes...

Re: Braid problems
I've only ever had the problem once, and it cost me a pike that I would estimate at 25lb-30lb, plus a 110g Ace Scud that was only on its second cast. The braid was 50lb Whiplash. The fish hit the lure at about 35yds and fought exceptionally hard. She evaded the net on the first go and decided to mak...

Have a look at Bazuka variable tubes, KIS cases or Plano variable tubes. I have one of each, and they are all bomb proof.

Re: gloves for below freeze temps
I've just started using SealSkinz. They're waterproof, tight fitting and warm. Look at the review here.

Generally I use Aqua Black Marlins. Full wrap arounds with good polarizing abilities & vented frames.

Krinkle,
Sweeeeeet looking stick.
I got my first MB, the F2-64XS Ltd, last week. Love it, and its a dream to use.
Stunning is the only way to describe the Megabass products.

Re: What kind of pike leader do you use?
I make all my own traces using a 10" length of coated, 7 strand steel wire. A 70lb swivel at one end and a Middy 70lb sea snap at the other.
I wouldn't dream of piking without a steel or Ti trace.
Simon.

Re: reel got wet-need help
At some time all of my baitcast reels have been drowned. On returning home sideplates & spools are removed, they get a thorough rinsing in the shower and are dried with paper kitchen towel and a hair drier. They then sit in a heated linen cupboard for a couple of days. Bearings get a touch of...

Re: Reel Idea
I have a Calais 201A on order as my do it all reel. It'll be used 99% for piking, throwing lures 1/2oz and above. In England it's the only model available, so I get a full warranty, as opposed to importing. Plus I'm trading for kit that I no longer use, so no shekels out of the wallet. Result. ;) :P...

Power Pro or Whiplash?
Just ordered a Shimano Calais 201A. Going to load it with 50lb braid for lures up to 2oz, targeting pike. The question is which braid, Power Pro or Whiplash? What do you reckon?

Christened the Megabass
Hi all, Took out my new Megabass F2-64XS Ltd / Daiwa TD-R for it's first session this afternoon. Couldn't fish the river as it's well over the banks after the torrential rain that we've had over the past week. So, I ventured to the lake, to have a go at the pike. The water is about 14"-16" above nor...

Re: Megabass F2-64XS Ltd
Florian, Pics would be good, but a lake swallowed the camera. As for lures, I reckon mostly small spinners and crank baits, Mepps, Panther Martins, Snap Beans, 3g Rebel Jointed Minnows etc. ;) As for species, any that will hit a lure. Primarily perch, chub and brown trout. However, I have take...

Megabass F2-64XS Ltd
Well, I finally got to unwrap my first JDM rod last night, a Megabass F2-64XS Ltd, just a week after ordering from Plat. It took a time to break through the miles of bubble wrap, it was very well packed. The rod itself was inside a deep red zippered sock, a nice touch. In terms of looks and detailin...
