Re: if you could have only 2 rod+reels. which would it be?

822s SYR, '14 Stella 2500hgs
843c MBR, '15 Alebaran 51hg

It was a toss up between the 843 and the 893.

Re: 802c NRX for topwter?

After quite a search last season I ended up pairing an 802c with an Aldebran 51hg. The tip has just the right amount of flex when I'm working an MB PopX. Great rod for top water.

Re: NRX 852S questions

I had an 852s for throwing mainly senkos, and real tried to like it, but just couldn't. Too stiff and not enough whip to it when casting. I then went to an 802s, and while I liked the senitivity and the length, it didn't have enough backbone. I tried my 822syr that I was using for dropshot and spyba...

Re: Stella Sizing

Turns out the JDM Stella c2500hgs does not have anti-reverse! That's a game changer! ](*,) Can someone tell me if there is a North American option? I want something that is a tad smaller than the 2500, with a shallow spool. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Stella Sizing

I found I could be much more accurate with the 802s. I didn't like the length of the 852s for senkos when pitching them from my kayak.

Guess I've found my next reel. Watch the classifieds for the c2000hgs!

Stella Sizing

Couple of months ago I was looking to find a Stella that I would pair up with my NRX 802s for throwing senkos. I found the 2500 to feel a little large, so found a 2000 FE model instead. Upon viewing it it ended up being a c2000hgs. It was a lot smaller than what I expected, what I would equate to a ...

Re: NRX 842S SJR - do i want it?

I've found my 842c MBR to be quite a bit more whippy that my 843c MBR. I wouldn't recommend the 842 for jerkbaits or top water poppers. It does work great however for small cranks, you don't rip the lure out of their mouths. For top water I have an 802c....very impressed. Jerkbaits I just picked up ...

Re: NRX 894 vs NRX 873C

Got to try a spinner bait on an 873c this weekend, little too soft. Sounds like you made the right choice of the 894c.

Re: Fast taper Loomis 802

I have an 802c, 852c, 842c and a 843c. Out of all of them, I would say the 843c is the closest to a fast action you would be looking for, albeit slightly heavier power. I love my 842c as a cranking rod, but I find it has a more moderate action compared to the 802c. The 843c is similar to the 842c, h...

Re: NRX 894 vs NRX 873C

I'm watching this thread with great interest. I recently got an 893c JWR and an 843c MBR. Was fishing last weekend with these for the first time and found the 893c (fantastic rod btw) could have used just a tad more power yanking them out of the slop. As for the 843, it had a bit too much bend in it...

It's been about a month and half since the last post. Has anyone else recently tried a Met DC who would care to share their thoughts?

Re: NRX Jerkbait Rod

Thanks for the reply Paul. I have an 852c, but haven't tried it for jerkbaiting. Will do during my next outing. I have an 802c as well, but use that for top water and may be a little on the light side, even though the length would be about right.

Cheers

Re: Best Reel to pair with a NRX 893c

Shame the Zillion PE Special is only 6:3:1 as that would have looked great. The blue, gold and blue would have nicely gone with the black and blue of the NRX I recently acquired an 893c and have both Megabass IP68 and IS71 reels which I could put on it. Between the black/gold and the black/purple i...
