NRX Crankbait Rod
So as I'm starting to update my rod collection for the 2015 season, and it has become evident to me that G-Loomis doesn't have a dedicated NRX crankbait rod. A GLX 845 CBR would be the likely candidate, however, the OCD in me shudders at the thoughts of not all my rods matching. What model of NRX ha...

Re: How much $$ does this forum cost you in a year?
So far this year, 6 Chronarchs 201E, 2 Chronarch CI4, Core 51mg7, 1 Croix Big Cranker, 1 NRX 852s....and have now been introduced (but have not yet committed) to Megabass product. Evil, evil site! Next stop, Pro-J's to go fondle some MB Gear...

Re: Spinning Reel Brand Suggestions
Good to see I'm not the only one who's experienced the binding issue. At this point, I'm leaning towards a JDM Daiwa, just to get above that $200 mark. I've been quite impressed by the selection on jpangler.com.

Re: Spinning Reel Brand Suggestions
So it's not the drag getting wet, it's water getting in to the the internals via the shaft.
Oh no....back to the beginning again...

Re: Spinning Reel Brand Suggestions
I didn't realize the Stratic FJ's had a sealed drag. That should solve my problem. The Shimano website however doesn't indicate that as a feature. In theory then, the CI4 and the Sustain should also have the same sealed drag feature, should they not?

Re: Spinning Reel Brand Suggestions
They were Saros FA's. I would have to find the post again, but another guy had the same problem with mid grade Shimanos and upgraded to a Stella, only to be afflicted by the same problem. Hence my apprehension to look at something like a Sustain. The amount of water that got in the reel may have bee...

Spinning Reel Brand Suggestions
I'm hoping you guys can lend some insights as to the next brand of spinning reels I should attempt. I'm onto my third brand. I was subject to the dreaded Shimano "binding when wet" during a torrential downpour at one of the kayak fishing tournaments I attended. The fish were only biting on finesse b...

Chronarch CI4 add a bearing?
I just picked up a couple of Chronarch CI4s and after playing with them at the kitchen table last night, was surprised on how much smoother and refined they feel compared to my Cronrach 201E7s. I reread the TT article On the CI4 and wondered if anyone knew if it's possible to put an aftermarket leve...

Re: Getting back into the scene; BOCA ABEC 7s?
This might be a dumb question, but all the talk of using Hedgehog Air bearings centres around casting lighter baits, but is there a downside to using them if chucking large crank baits? Would the results be similar then for the Airs compared to Bocas?

Re: Is it Daiwa, Shimano, or someone else?
I have a hord of Shimano Curado 51e's and 201e7's for baitcasters. Thinking of upgrading to Cores this year, or will supertune the Curados. Recently swapped out my Shimano spinning reels for Quantum Exos after the dreaded binding during retrieve due to the reels being exposed to the rain while fishi...

Got out in my 2015 Hobie Outback for some walleye just before it froze over. Nothing caught, but a good day out testing out the new hull.

Re: Cork Covered Reel Seat Question
It appears the G-Loomis GLX jig and worm rods have the handle I'm looking for. They call it a comfort grip. Anyone have a clue as to who makes this for them? I'd be looking to build up the cork grip a little more. http://i481.photobucket.com/albums/rr174/ab_bubbleboy/Fishing/bca43d63867a5ea431a50930...

Re: Cork Covered Reel Seat Question
That seat was one that was in contention, except the plastic seat of the rear portion of the handle wouldn't be coveredby cork , and neither would the front that tightens the reel.

Cork Covered Reel Seat Question
Hey guys, this year I upgraded all my rods to St. Croix Legend Tournamnets. While I have really enjoyed the both the spinning and casting rods, I don't like the feel of the handle on the 6'8" Senko rod, TBS68MXF. So I'm looking into having a rod made for me using the same blank, but with a custom co...
